correct, 27 years old in the Dan Murphy mold

Leave it to the Mets to trade the farm for Robinson Cano when they have this stud.

McNeil was almost included in that trade.

You can blame the Mets for a lot of things but you can't blame them for "holding" Mcneil back. In fact, whatever they did with him worked.

From 2013 to 2015 Mcneil spent the equivalent of 2 1/2 seasons in the minors. While he did average right at .300 in those seasons he had no power at all only managing 4 homeruns in 287 games.

The next 2 years were lost to injuries as he only played in 3 games in 2016 and 48 games in 2017.

Whatever he or they did in the offseason worked as he was a terror that finally had some pop in 2018.

In AA ball he hit 14 homers in 57 games while batting .327. That earned him a fast promotion to AAA ball where he tore the cover off the ball in the 31 games he was there at a .368 pace with 5 more bombs.

From there he joined the Mets at midseason and hasn't looked back and I don't expect him to.

How much faster were they supposed to get him up? Congratulations to the Mets, they got one right.

Then why did they trade for a washed up secondbaseman the first chance they got?

I was referring to the way they handled McNeil. Several in the thread were bashing the Mets for not getting him up sooner.

Where in my quote did I say one word about Cano?

They still think Cano is their best secondbaseman. That's how screwed up an organization it is. Van Wagenen is running the show and it's going down.

Q. What do multiple hits in 5 games in a row get you if you are on the Mets? A. A day off.

I was talking about him last year when all he did was hit and the Mets still went out and traded for Cano.

I picked him up during last season on a fantasy dynasty team. He's been killing it. He's a hits/on base machine. And has multiple position eligibility in fantasy.

2 more hits yesterday, and now a 7 point lead over Bellinger.

The 3 most natural active hitters I’d go

1 McNeil
2 DJ
3 Blackmon

2 more hits. Back up to .350, and currently a 12 point lead over Bellinger.

Nice to see him get going a little bit. Don't love him in the 3 spot, though.

at the risk of revealing my identity i predicted a 17-10-.300 line (i went bolder and said 20-12-.300 on twitter) for mcneil last year. was extremely hyped about his debut in 2018 and it was very gratifying seeing his power blossom. he flashed it before getting promoted but obviously was basically a pure average guy the rest of 2018

my only regret is going on a 4-ish year hiatus from collecting. missed a huge opportunity to buy low on his 2014 bowman chrome auto

Lol his chrome auto is only 30 bucks now. Get in there! It has nowhere to go but sideways or down going into his age 29 season with mediocre power and 9 career WAR

Good baseball player, zero card potential
