Wasn't it that the BO warriors were saying with Schwarber, once a prospect is called up passed some June deadline (late June), no player is put into a product in the second half of the year. Basically using this as an excuse to justify Topps holding of players back to re-use and pump a full years worth of RC logos.

Yordan got the call this past weekend. When was this magical deadline?

In the past I thought it was later in June. Will be interesting to see if the next guy that gets the call gets the RC or if that's it for the year. I think it's a solid move by Topps. Update is already loaded. This gives 2020 Flagship some serious upside after this year's stinker.

It has been late June.

In 2017, Matt Chapman Debuted on 6/15 and Luke Voit debuted on 6/25 or 6/26. They were both in Update

If you look at recent June callups, they get RCs the same year, but they rarely get RC autos. Just the timing doesn't work out. I imagine it's tough, in June, to get the cards printed to sign, send the cards to the player, get them back, AND get them in product in time.

Couple this with overproduction, and the general shortage of enough autos for all the products, and maybe they save June rookies for the following year now.

And I also imagine they've gone to print with most 2019 cards by now. Look at how hot RCs are, and look in previous years to see that June callups might only get a RC in Update and that's it.

They will probably be printing Update cards from now all the way till release. Only way they will be able to print enough. Rumor has it, they are trying to print enough for every household to have 7 cases of Hobby and 7 cases of Jumbo each.
