Default My 5th batch of 200 Packs

This is my 5th Batch of 200 packs I got in yesterday, well actually 154 packs, they shorted me basically a full bundle. I called customer service they refunded me $20 for 1 bundle, no questions asked. I'll post results after I get to opening it all. Not as good as other batches, but still looking forward to opening, and still plenty of entertainment value here.

Anyone else been chewing the Gum from 2006 - 2009 Topps Opening Day Packs? I have been, it is surprisingly good for 13 years old, I guess the cellophane wrapped gum, inside a pack keeps it fresh enough to be edible.

I haven't chewed a piece of gum in 20 years, but this is good to know. I've got 10 pieces sitting here that I hadn't decided what to do with. I'll give it away (give it away, give it away) now.

Here's what I've done so far;
Junk era cards: In the trash.
500 count lot of base plus hits: Sold for a little over $20, netting me $10.
Mike Stanton RC: Sold for $3, netted me $2.
I kept about 20 cards that went into "the box". Including a couple of Gallo RC (the stupid gatorade cards), a few other minor RC, and the Pujols purple refractor.
2008 SC Kershaw RC and an Andrew Benintendi RC are packed up in Card Savers waiting to be graded.

This 150 Packs was really ugly, I could have had a little more luck with pulls but it turned out the pack selection was ugly, and the pulls were bad.
I did get one really long odds auto from 2006 Topps Opening Day, but it is a nobody, but is rare enough, it might still fetch 5 - 10 dollars.
Here's the best stuff, I'm chewing some of the Gum as I type.

When did they start putting the gum in plastic packets?

Topps stopped using Gum in packs for the most part in 1992. When they did start selecting certain products to put gum into again, they did it with the cellophane like that, they did it with Topps Opening Day and Bowman Heritage, Bazooka brand. I'm just guessing, but I think this started in the early to mid 2000's. (My gum came out of the 2006 Topps Opening Day Packs)

I have ate all of the gym that I have received including the 88 Topps, 89 Topps and bowman. The old stuff you just chew and eat. It kinda dissolves, cannot actually chew it like normal gum. As others have mentioned the stuff that is wrapped I've been able to chew like regular gum. Flavor leaves very quickly though!

My last two boxes were brutal, almost all junk era, dollar store, and 2006 rack packs.

the 2006 era packs are the worst, there's nothing in them. Id rather have the dollar store packs of the more recent stuff.

Is there anything at all worthwhile in the 91 Fleer Ultra that would actually sell?

Ultra Team Bo
Ultra Team Griffey

Denny Neagle RC

Somewhere along the supply chain, someone knows whats useful and whats junk. You will notice that the more recent purchases dont have 2017 or 2015 update dollar store packs.

Tinfoil hat on right now, someone at Walmart caught wind of this thread, and we were pointing out all the good stuff to them they shouldn’t send out for this low price. But more likely someone at this warehouse managing this particular wholesale purchase had an idea of what was better packs, trickled it out with the orders with the junk, now they just have junk left, and the good stuff has simply just ran out. Luckily it appears they may be out of all of it now. Hehehe

Here's a wrap up of what I got from my 100 packs. I did not open the 91 Ultra. Not too bad overall

Man, with the prices of hobby boxes continuing to be out of control, I'm sad that the good run of these repacks is over. Had more fun opening these than anything else in a long time, and didn't break the bank in the process.

I feel the same exact way. If I liked Hockey more I'd order some of those.

Not from Walmart but I was able to find some 50% off multipack boxes, 2017 topps update packs, 2018 topps holiday boxes, 2018 complete factory set from Shopko (going out of business). Got some decent stuff for what I paid.
