Default eBay switcheroo advice needed.

Has anyone had any luck winning a case when a buyer claims they got a different card than they ordered? I sold a card a month ago and today buyer opens up a return and says he received a different card. I’ve never even owned the card he sent a picture of. Any chance of me winning this case?

That's brutal. The seller seriously has no chance here? I hadn't thought of a buyer pulling that type of garbage.

Inless he admits to it or does not send anything back you have very little chance. Once you get the item back you may have luck calling Ebay and getting them to refund you/ Ebay is getting a little more seller friendly but the are still cases that are very tough to prove, like this one.

I agree with this. Force the buyer to open a case and send the item back. When it arrives and it is the wrong item, call eBay and report that the buyer returned the wrong item. If the buyer has done this multiple times, eBay might catch wind and do something about it.

Isn't using the USPS to commit fraud a felony? If the buyer knows this, they might think twice about sending the wrong item back. Maybe?

The buyer filed a return and said I sent the wrong item and posted a picture. I figured I’m out of luck on this one. I’ll wait until I receive the card and give eBay a call. It’s only $80 but it’s really the point of it. Plus I have to pay for return shipping so it’s a loss for me all the way around. Thanks for the input.

It would be a criminal case that likely could not be proven beyond doubt. Its a he said she said type situation.

Your eBay history also good or bad can work for you here.. I’ve had in last few years low feedback buyers with new accounts claim I sent wrong cards but I knew I did not. These where pretty high amount cards... was from a few years ago.. I’ve been with ebay since 2005.. they sided with me both times, and yes I know I was lucky, but does show if work hard on shipping, and making your buyers happy, eBay does look at past performances as part of their decision process. I know not everyone has had the same experience.

They just told you they sided with you. More than likely they refunded the buyer themselves. They do that from time to time especially in cases like this.

Yes...this^^....the one thing that eBay customer service is good at is telling you what you want to hear to get you off of the phone.
