Default SHAZAM

Surprised there's no discussion here. (there is in the off topic thread)

The reviews look good. Anyone going to see it?

Saw it earlier today . It had a bit for everyone , I thought the supporting cast was stronger than Zachary Levi and villain was a bit one note but enjoyed overall. Also the casting for Mary was spot on in my opinion

I was looking forward to it but for some reason I really didn't care for it. Never got much character development. The plot was one dimensional with little to no story twist. I got everything about it from the trailers. I know it appeals to kids so its good for what it is but not my cup of tea.

I found it fun, with a couple of off-notes; I give it a B+. Frankly I enjoyed the kid playing Billy Batson more than Zachary Levi as Thundercrack, but I get that Levi was selling the kid as being amped up.

I ponied up for IMAX, without knowing it was going to have a special EXTENDED 5-minute + preview for Godzilla! That preview ALONE was worth the price of admission!! WOW!

I thought it was the best DC movie I've seen since Nolan's Batman Trilogy.

Is it as good as Nolan's Batman movies? No! But I think it's the best movie DC has put out in awhile and I think they're moving in the right direction now.

Check out the Titans and Doom Patrol series. DC has been making some great shows as well.

I enjoyed it. I wasn't completely blown away by it, but it was a fun movie.

Anyway to get them without subscribing to their exclusive network? I am refusing to do anymore.

I've started rotating services one month at a time and binge watching the shows I want to watch. I'll add DC for a month as soon as the current seasons end.

I do this too. I cancelled Netflix and CBS all access and got the DC channel. If you guys read comics (comic forum, but who knows) there is a library on there that’s perfect to read through an iPad.

Just saw the movie and loved it. The movie really did have a Big meets Superman feel to it.

worst comic book movie I have ever seen. yes worse than fantastic four. the cgi was horrendous, the overacting by everyone was extremely nickelodeon. movie had no idea what it wanted to be. was it a superhero movie, a comedy, a coming of age. they tried all 3 and failed at all of them. again this is something my kid would watch on Nick Jr on tv. no one should be content with seeing what they saw in the special effects in a movie theatre these days.

I dunno much about superhero movies. Is his power the ability to identify songs in just a few notes?

Haven't seen the movie yet. Based on the previews I'm under the impression this is more geared towards "the whole family" than most modern superhero films that cater to a more mature audience.

They show guys killing their families and heads being eaten on Nick Jr?!?! I don’t think you watched the same Shazam everyone else did.

I would say that there's a couple of scenes that were more intense than most other similarly age-rated superhero films. It was a surprise, and not a particularly welcome one as it shook up one of my kids a bit. I thought tonally the film was a bit over the place because of it. But it was a decent film. Not anywhere near most of the MCU IMO, but certainly one of the better recent DC films.

That's interesting. I dont have kids, so it doesnt really matter to me. If I was a parent, I definitely would have gone in thinking the movie was kid friendly. The trailers just give that vibe.

the movie is kid friendly. a terrible looking cgi character that is so cartoon looking biting off a head which is not even really shown is not a big deal. and yes I see this on nick jr. they do it all the time on ninja turtles, a show that even had references to texas chainsaw massacre and evil dead. this movie is extremely kid friendly which is the problem. sorry im not into little kiddie movies, im 37 so don't think I should be. no way can I say this was good. might as well go see that terrible looking movie called "little" since its the same type of concept.

Yeah, you might be too old for it. I think 93% of viewers disagree with you.

we get it, you hate it. That's fine. It's been very well received, and I've heard a sequel is already in the making.

sky high is also fresh and well received. I guess that is a great comic book movie. I love when people disagree people have problems with it. you sound more like lemmings than actually liking it. glad you like it, hope you love it. hope the movie makes billions and theres 15 sequels so I can sell my shazam comics. with all that said no one has disagreed the movie was made for kids and has bad cgi. to me that is not fun. sorry im not obligated to agree with all of you. I actually can form my own opinion instead of rotten tomatoes telling me what to like or not like.

Well, I think the thing is, if it's made for kids then you arent the target demographic.

Its like a man complaining Ihe dont like the way women's panties fit him. Was he expecting otherwise?

and yes that is your opinion. The opinion of literally the majority of movie goers is complete opposite of you. They are entitled to their opinion as well. I enjoyed the movie, its much lighter than almost every single other CBM and that is a good thing. Fantastic Four is still the worst CBM and that includes some of the awful campy stuff done in the 70s and 80s, oh wait that is my opinion not fact.
