I'm just getting back into buying comics so thought I'd jump on this with the first couple of issues. Really liking the artwork so far. They also had a copy of #1 signed so I thought i'd grab it. I'm not sure what print runs these are, I'm presuming not the first but still very cool.

The #1 you have with the black cover is a first printing variant that was jointly done between Forbidden Comics in the UK and JetPack Comics in the USA. Forbidden Comics also did a release party for it at their shop with both creators in attendance, they offered their black cover variant signed or unsigned so you did well by getting one of them, congrats.

Thanks very much for the info!

It was from Forbidden Planet. It was pretty cheap, only £7 (about $10) although it didn't come boarded which I was surprised about.

Question: Why is one store-variant of DIE #1 w/ 800 print run selling for 200.00 while other store variants w/ 500 print runs selling for like 15-20 bucks..?
Plus, those other variants have exclusive cover art while the expensive one is a black & white/virgin version of cover A..

I think that people like the art on the /800 better. It's sleeker. But, that's an excellent question and maybe a nudge to have some junkies get the /500 before they go up, as well.

Unsure of a black/white virgin cover, can you link one of the eBay auctions? Also regarding the 800 print run variant which is a virgin variant cover, that was the shared variant between Jet Pack Comics and Forbidden Planet, I thought it was 800 for each retailer or was it confirmed that it was 800 total with 400 for Jet Pack and 400 for Forbidden Planet?

Yes, I believe it's 800 total. Seems that Forbidden Planet & Jetpack have some sort of partnership.
When in doubt go regular cover A 1st printing...of course that's what I have, so I'm biased.

Yes I know of that variant but what I meant was in your earlier posting you said "while the expensive one is a black & white/virgin version of cover A"

When I saw "black & White/virgin version" I assume you meant more like a black/white sketch cover. I would not really classify the Forbidden Planet/Jet Pack variant has being "black/white" when it comes to colors so I wasn't sure if you were talking about a super rare one per retailer variant that Image may have done. But it's all good, now I know what you mean.

With Die doing so well perhaps it will be a property that gets picked up, with Stranger Things doing so well for Netflix, perhaps AMC will step up and want another hot property for themselves.

A UK company has some signed and unsigned variants, apparently limited to 500 & 250 if thats of any interest. I'm not sure what the US shipping is like, but from my (limited) experience, they seem a very trustworthy company.

Shipping on 4 comics was a flat 8 pounds. I had some extra pp so I bought two sets of the Rooth variants. You get the /500 and the /250 covers.

Glad you got a set! Mine arrived today, with a bunch of other variants I liked the look of. All came in very good condition, seems like a good store!

Looks like Die image comics is getting a 5th printing. So glad I saw Indy's post when it originally was released!

What will be interesting is to see what happens to prices on the 4th printing when the 5th comes out.

This has been my favorite storyline lately. It is pretty crazy to see how fast issue #1 has been rising. I was able to get a couple A covers signed and four B covers dual signed at ECCC this year. Now to wait and see what they come back from CGC as.

Seriously, so many variants for #1...I see cover A/first printing is really picking up steam.
Although, maybe not the favorite cover, isn't the Sad Lemon /250 print run variant a solid pick, long-term? I believe the next rarest variants are 500 pr and then you have the popular /800 virgin..

It's hard to say where/what the public will decide, but all indicators are pointing at the /800 Virgin being the premier to have. Outside of that I would think either of the 1st print covers are winners long term.

As far as picking favorites, I never in a million years thought Greg Lands Spider-Verse #2 would be so wanted, but alas, the public has spoken.

Well, I could see DIE becoming another Saga-like hit, plus I think it's just a matter of time before it's optioned, so even if it's not the most popular cover I think that 250 print run is going to be hard to ignore over time....that is until they come out with the limited to 100 6th printing
