Default 3 Hobby Box Break of Star Wars Galactic Files 2018

Just getting back into the trading card hobby after a brief 25 year hiatus.
Got a hobby box of Star Wars Galactic Files 2018 for Christmas.
Loved it so much I had to get 2 more from Blowout.
Then I found this forum and thought I'd share what I got.

I absolutely love this product.
One thing I found interesting is that over 3 boxes, I never got a duplicate parallel.
I of course got duplicate base, and few duplicate inserts... but no duplicate oranges or blues.
That's some great collation!
I am 6 cards short of the complete base set (of 200), and am missing ~20 inserts (they are kinda rare).
I didn't hit anything especially special, but here's what I got over 3 hobby boxes:
  • 572 Cards
  • 344 Base (194/200) - (76 duplicates and 37 triplicates)
  • 95 Orange Parallels (95/200) - (no duplicates) - (averages ~4:3 packs)
  • 36 Blue Parallels (36/200) - (no duplicates) - (odds = 1:2, me = 1:2)
  • 3 Band of Heroes Inserts (3/7) - (no duplicates) - (odds = 1:20, me = 1:24)
  • 8 Galactic Moments Inserts (6/10) - (2 duplicates) - (odds= 1:10, me = 1:9)
  • 8 Locations Inserts (8/10) - (no duplicates) - (odds = 1:8, me = 1:9)
  • 18 Memorable Quotes Inserts (10/10) - (4 duplicates and 2 triplicates) - (odds = 1:4, me = 1:4)
  • 6 Sinister Syndicates Inserts (5/15) - (1 duplicate) - (odds = 1:10, me = 1:12)
  • 18 Vehicle Inserts (10/10) - (6 duplicates and 1 triplicate) - (odds = 1:4, me = 1:4)
  • 8 Weapon Inserts (5/10) - (3 duplicates) - (odds = 1:8 packs, me = 1:9)
I did slightly worse or exactly the odds on most of the inserts (except the Galactic Moments where I did only slightly better).
Kinda disappointing, but I guess it's mostly a rounding error... though I wish a few more had rounded in my favour.
Anyway, without further ado, here are my numbered cards and hits:

Green cards (#'d out of 199). You should get 1:9 packs, but I got 1:8. Nine in total, three in each box:
  • Commander Fox (071/199)
  • Bistan (041/199)
  • Rose Tico (027/199)
  • Sarco Plank (047/199)
  • Hassk Triplets (049/199)
  • Guavian Death Gang Enforcer (021/199)
  • C-3PO (172/199)
  • Muftak (097/199)
  • General Tagge (139/199)

Purple (#'d out of 99). You should get 1:18 packs, and that's what I got. Four in total, two boxes had one, and one box had two:
  • Tivik (19/99)
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi (62/99)
  • Corporal Tonc (03/99)
  • Poe Dameron (17/99)

Short Prints. I think I got lucky here. I got one in each box. You should only get 1:55 packs and I got 1:24. So I'm really happy about that:
  • Han Solo
  • Imperial Stormtrooper
  • Anakin Skywalker

Autographs. I'm not really a huge Clone Wars fan so was kinda disappointed to get 2 autos from that.
And the Tivik one from Rogue One isn't really a major character... but oh well:
  • Daniel Mays as Tivik (016/415)
  • Meredith Salenger as Barriss Offee - Green Parallel (06/50)
  • Cas Anvar as Peteen (163/397)

Poster Patch and Printing Plates.
I was super happy to get a black printing plate.
I think they look the best of all the plates.
Not a major character but still really cool.
But what's really throwing me off is the upside down poster card.
I haven't seen any of those anywhere.
Has anyone else seen an error like that?
Also, I'm wondering if errors like that have more value.
I guess it probably depends on the collector, but if this is the only error, would that make it more desirable?
Anyway, here are the cards:
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi Revenge of the Sith Poster Patch - Blue Parallel (11/99)
  • Jashco Phurus Black Printing Plate (1/1)
  • Darth Vader Revenge of the Sith Poster Patch - Upside down error

Thanks for looking!

I have bought so many of this product. Never thought about the short prints. How do you tell they are ? Other than memorizing the photos.

The easiest way to scan through a large amount of this product to find the short prints is to look at the card numbers on the back. As you may know, the 2018 Galactic Files is a continuation of the 2017 set. They even continued on with the card numbers. So while the 2017 set for, say, ESB was numbered 1-16, the 2018 set was numbered 17-30. The short prints are re-issues of the 2017 set with slightly different images. However, the card numbers still remained the same. So if you find ESB-1 in your 2018 pack, that's a short print.

In short, any card numbered less than 15 is likely a short print. The exceptions being Rogue One (RO) and The Last Jedi (TLJ) both of which don't have any short prints. You can then confirm 100% by looking at the code next to the copyright on the back of the card at the very bottom. The code on the regular cards end in 808. The short prints end in 826.

It's worth doing this as the short prints tend to be worth more than most of the crappy hits. There is a complete 25 card set on eBay right now asking for like $1000.

Hope this helps!
