Post Dodgers Sign A.J. Pollock

Guess the era of Verdugo in LA has come to an end.

Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal
#Dodgers in agreement with free-agent outfielder A.J. Pollock, pending physical, sources tell The Athletic. Terms of deal not known.

In April AJ will be on the DL and Verdugo will get plenty of time.

And yes, this means another team bows out of Harper's Bazaar.

I think we see a team saying “oh no we aren’t getting Harper, we better sign someone!”

Maybe they will let him go for Kluber now? I would like him in Cleveland.

So what are the likely landing spots for Harper/Machado now?

Machado - White Sox?
Harper - Phillies?

Seems like there's no one else in contention.

They're the only ones that have put anything on the table so far.

I’d say it’s pretty much the offer with a opt out

Dodgers: "We aren't signing Bryce Harper to a 10 year deal. What if he's hurt at age 35 or 36?"

Also Dodgers: "Yeah, let's give a 31 year old A.J. Pollock a 4 year contract!"

For whatever reason, AJ Pollock is one of those guys that I've always really liked. Hope he can stay healthy and do well in LA.

Good signing, good to see them finally doing something that makes sense.

same here … and as a Phillies fan, I'm not really sure I would want Harper for 10 years. Not holding out for Trout either, but I am in a small minority to believe that Moniak and Haseley could be really good MLB OFers

Pollack @ 55/4=13.75 million per year.
Harper @ 300+/10=30+ million per year.

They can afford to be wrong with Pollack and replace him if need be. Harper's contract size will make it tough to do that.

The AAV of roughly $13-14 million a year is reasonable, but the 4-year length is going to come back and haunt the Dodgers, just like Carl Crawford & Adrian Gonzalez's deals did.

You're talking about a guy who has only had more than 500 PA once in his career, and only player more than 120 games twice.

You really think the Padres will dish out money to another big free agent, this time to Machado? I’m thinking a smaller FA like Moustakas.
