Now i'm confused again Hollywood. You said Corner can keep two of them. If all 5 players have a round 1 value for this season he can only keep one right? That doesn't make sense to me.

I think we're still on the same page, I might have read it wrong. Lots of numbers. Plus there's some ambiguity when someone says player has "9th round value"- do they mean they took them in the 9th round last year (and would cost an 8th to keep), or that they would cost a 9th round pick to keep this year?
If there were 5 guys that cost a 2nd round pick to keep this year, you could only keep 2 of them. If there were 5 guys that cost a 1st round pick to keep this year, you could only keep 1 of them

Right. Once you spend your first round pick to keep a player, they can't be kept after that season, since there's no way to increase the cost to keep from there. I just wanted to note the case where you trade away a pick in the same round the player you're trading for costs to keep, because that can be tricky

Question that isn’t in the rules.
If I trade my 4th round pick for joe shome who was drafted in round 5 last year. Can I keep 6 players since I gave up a pick, or do I still keep 5 and have an additional draft pick at the end of the draft to have a full roster?

I'm not sure I understand the first half of the situation, but there's no scenario where someone could keep more than 5 players. If anyone comes across the situation where their roster won't be full (25 guys) after the draft, they'll get extra draft picks at the end of the draft to round out their roster. If more than 1 team needs extra picks, the draft will continue to follow the snake order with all teams that still need picks until everyone has a full 25 man roster
Here's an example. I trade my 24th and 25th round picks to get Mike Trout. I'll now only have 23 players after the 25-round draft. To account for that, I'll get an additional 2 picks at the end of the draft to round out my roster before everyone goes to waivers to start the year If both I and jacfire need 2 additional picks to get to full rosters, we would follow the same snake order the draft follows with just us two (or anyone else who still needed picks) until all rosters are full. So if I needed 4 more picks and jacfire needed 2 more, the order would be something like- Round 26- Hollywood, jacfire Round 27- Jacfire, Hollywood Round 28- Hollywood Round 29- Hollywood That make sense?

One other reminder about keepers for everyone, players without MLB experience are not eligible to be kept

Going to go ahead and PM everyone this afternoon to start seeing who's back for year 2 and who doesn't want in again. Kinda early, but would like some time to figure out potential replacements, rule changes, etc. Rough timeline of what I'm thinking-
1. Now- Find replacement owners if necessary 2. Immediately after owners are set- Discuss potential rule changes 3. Early Feb- Buy-ins due 4. Mid Feb- Keepers due 5a if offline draft). Immediately following keepers due- Draft starts 5b (if online draft). Early to mid March- Draft starts Things on my list to discuss: 1. Draft order determination (see last page or so) 2. Potential scoring adjustments to be less pitcher dominated 3. Where to hold draft (ESPN doesn't let us select round values for keepers so we can't use them. Either offline here in this thread, or hold the draft on something like Fantrax and then import results into ESPN, seems like our best option) 4. Anything else that comes up For now, leave a post here or reply to my incoming PM if you'd like to participate this year or not. No pressure if you don't want to play this year, just let me know as soon as you can so I can start looking for a replacement. Once we figure out all the owners for 2019, we'll come back to the draft order debate and other possible rule changes and go from there

Poonchka, your PMs are full. Please clear some space when you have a minute. Nothing too major, I'd like like to make sure everyone gets a PM as I know not everyone checks the thread this early in the season

I'm in. Very much looking forward to it.
Also, not to sidetrack this thread I am thinking about starting up an AL only auction points league. If anyone is interested please let me know. |

I might be. Never done an auction league before but kinda curious about it
We have 7 of 12 committed for 2019 already! Keeping track in the list of members at the top of the OP in this thread

It would be a standard 5X5 auction league. Though I'd probably replace Wins with QS and BA with OBP. I love auctions because you have an opportunity for every player. I usually just sit and watch people overpay for everyone, they run out of money, and I pick off value wherever I can. I won't sidetrack our league anymore with this though. Just look for a thread in the coming weeks to gauge interest.

I do typically prefer points to categories, just because my mind works better that way, but I'll keep an eye out and consider for sure

Anyone else not able to view their roster due to the continuing ESPN fantasy updates? Keeps saying that it is under maintenance.

No worries, pretty much just needed to know if you were in or not at this point. Just waiting to hear back from Fire and then we'll be set! Next on the agenda is potential rule changes

Fire's in, so we are full for 2019. First order of business is determining how the draft order is set.
Currently, it's determined by reverse final standings including playoffs. However, we are debating switching that rule so that the first 6 picks are determined by reverse regular season standings (non playoff teams), and the next 6 picks determined by reverse final standings after playoffs (championship bracket teams). So for example, if team A finishes the regular season in last place, they would get the first overall pick. However, the 6 teams that make the playoff bracket play out the playoffs and whoever wins it gets 12th overall pick, 2nd place gets 11th pick, and so on. This'll help prevent tanking and make the draft more fair overall 3 options: Don't adopt this change Adopt this change now and apply to the 2019 draft order Adopt this change after the 2019 season and apply to the 2020 draft order Couple people have voted so far, here's where we're at- Don't adopt: 0 Adopt now: 0 Adopt after 2019: 0 Viking6 has expressed that they want this rule adopted but don't care if it's now or after 2019. I'll add myself to that category as well If adopt now and adopt after 2019 tie but hold a majority over don't adopt, I'll run a random to decide if we change the rule now or later. For disclosure, I don't believe this rule change effects my draft position this year either way
