Does anyone have any suggestions on how to ship Bowman Chrome or Ginter mini's into COMC so they don't slide around and ding? I don't see any sleeves that are that size. I have enough concerns with COMC damaging them so want to cover my bases.

I like to put 15-20 sideways into a team set bag, wrap the slack of the bag around and then seal it. Makes a secure little package for minis.

Just got 18 cards declined but the photo only shows 6. A couple are worth considering paying the extra, but without knowing what the other 12 are its hard to make a real choice.

Why hasn't COMC developed an app yet?

They don't really need an app; when they rebuilt the website a few years ago, they made it with smartphones in mind - by making it scalable, it effectively made an app redundant.

Besides, with their record of starting projects but never really finishing them, do we really need an app that'll be stuck in "beta" for years and years?

To be fair, he never said it was well built.

We could argue that being on eBay leverages their app

I think an app would be great. A responsive site isn't the same as an app. I have an AirBnB unit. I get a notification with the app every time I get a message from my AirBnb guests. That's more helpful than an email. An app could have similar notifications with offers. As well browsing cards could be done more data efficiently for the app, etc. It also opens up to users in the app market. Having a mobile website != having an app.

I agree they would have to launch a full featured app, and not limp one along in beta.

All excellent points that I hadn't thought of before.

Let's face it, users under the age of 25 rarely go to websites anymore and it could potentially open up a brand new market to more buyers.

The problem is, the company seems cheap and won't invest in the coders needed to launch it.

They can hardly tell a 1993 Stadium Club First Day Barry Sanders from a base 1993 Stadium Club Barry Sanders....I don't think they should be wasting resources on an app.

Speaking of inaccuracies...

When I click yearly sales stats the number I get for 2018 is larger then the number from downloading all 2018 sales history into Excel. (It is 1.62% larger, but they should be the same in theory.)

I think that for those of us who run promotions, the 3% fee on promotional sales isn't included in the yearly sales stats. But then when you download your history into excel it factors that in. I am not sure why this is, but this difference is a large expense that could help users that run promotions frequently.

EDIT: I ran the numbers and this is how it works. I got the number to be within like 60$ of being correct. If you use seller stats, make sure to subtract 3% from total amount of promotion sales you had. The seller stats number should be pretty close to the number when you download every sale as an excel file and subtract the 3% fee you pay.

These are all excellent points and, ideally, they should be put to an actual employee of COMC to see if there's any response - speaking of, has anyone seen James lately? Is he around or has he taken another unannounced hiatus from the boards? Must be nice...

James responded to my email to staff@comc a couple days ago.

Who knows if anyone at COMC is watching the boards

I was talking to Geoff about an app at one of the Expos. He actually brought it up. So, I'm sure they've talked about it.

I assure you, I still am gainfully employed at COMC, and catching up on this board is something that I do every couple of days, if not more. Customer support and outreach falls under my umbrella, but like I've said in the past, I made a decision to be involved in some hobby forums such as this one, and was not told by anyone to do so. I like the dialogue here and on FCB, so I make it a point to stop by regularly, but only when everything else that I'm responsible for in my role at COMC is in a good state.

I think that everyone at COMC realizes that an app would be a great and allow us to not only reach more collectors, but to make our service more accessible to those already on it. But I think even reading some of the other discussion from earlier posts, a picture starts to be painted showing how complex a full-fledged app would be to create. In a perfect world, a COMC app would mirror the website, right? Everything that you can do on the website should be in the app, and anything less than that would feel incomplete, or at least from my perspective.

I'm not a developer, but when you start to just generally hypothesis all of the feature work, design work, mobile integration (Apple Pay? Google Wallet? Etc), and everything involved in fleshing out an app to be what people actually want, you start to realize it's a massive undertaking. I don't know if we're at the point yet to commit to that, but we will be some day.

Aren't there companies that will assist in building an app for you? Yes, it would be a huge undertaking but personally I don't feel like it is something that COMC should internally tackle on their own.

Farm it out with someone well known in the industry that would do a killer job on it. I feel like everyone has an app these days, it can't be THAT difficult to mimic much of what the website does already.

What would you want from a COMC app that isn't available through the website, if you're on a mobile device? Notifications of offers is the first one I can think of. Maybe funding your account through the app and Paypal (like the Starbucks app). What else?

Looks like they might be trying out a new process for receiving damaged cards. I had a submission arrive at COMC today and tonight they sent me an e-mail stating that the cards in one box were packed too tightly, resulting in damage to a few cards. The e-mail included 20+ pictures of the whole unpacking process, so I guess they are trying to address the concerns about damage occurring during that process.
