Default PSA or JSA for Signed Baseballs?

Hopefully this gets some traction here.

My dad has several baseballs that he has decided it is time to part with and I want to help him max out the value. Looks like it would be around $500-600 to authenticate? Mantle x2, Teddy, Joe D, Mays, Aaron

It seems like JSA is slightly cheaper, is the extra cost for PSA worth it? I assume doing either would be worth the investment to help him max out value?

Personally I've seen no different in sell prices tho I dont sell but a few. Both are pretty much equally acceptable imo.

Cards you'd want to get authenticated by PSA for their Set Registry guys. Auto balls, not much difference. If the price is within $100, I'd probably go Psa. Higher than $100, JSA.

I'd go PSA but that is just personal preference. I started collecting PSA/DNA baseballs when I first started getting a couple and just wanted to have that uniformity in my collection.

I do have a few JSA authenticated items, but I eventually sent them in the get PSA graded as well just to have that sticker, lol.

But ya, I agree with mjonatgt. go with PSA unless there is a large ($100+) price difference in the sale price of the baseball.

Those are a nice little selection of baseballs he has. pics?

Yeah, I am used to using PSA for cards. Just really don't have much experience with memorabilia.

I could go down to the show in Houston next weekend and have JSA do an on-site:
Mantle $75 x2
Williams $75
Dimaggio $75
Aaron $40
Mays $45

Maybe that is the way to go. I would have gas and time cost but not sure that would be any more than shipping to/from.

Best I can tell PSA would be $100 each for the big boys.

Hummmm?

Yeah, I was going to say, if one of them is at a local show, then that might be the best way to go. If you do go to the show, make sure you drop the items off first thing in the morning so that they are done in a couple of hours. If you drop them off after lunch, they might not be able to get to them that day depending on how busy they are.

For PSA, Mantle is $100, but Williams and DiMaggio are $75.

On the Aaron and Mays, the prices you list are for a full LOA. If you just want a COA, then it will be cheaper ($25 and $30).

Thanks. Good catch on the Aaron/Mays. I didn't notice that. Also I was just assuming Ted and Joe were the same Mick so good to know they are actually cheaper.

Does anyone recommend get the grading done with PSA if the balls and autos are clean? Still trying to decipher what that cost is.
