Thanks - I paid in cash (dropped off the cards at a show) so I guess I'll put a weekly reminder in my work calendar to check my account page and hope something appears. Tom Petty was right when he said the waiting is the hardest part.

What a great thread! Thank you. Two questions:

I’m considering adding a minimum grade (maybe 8) to my first PSA submission, mostly to insure against my having missed something especially bad. Would setting this across the board potentially be detrimental to my better cards - as in, no need to give a 10 here as this guy is happy with an 8?

Along the same lines of probably overthinking this, does sending in cards that don’t grade well affect the others in the submission? Like a pitcher who is wild not getting a strike on the corner.

Thanks.

You are overthinking it. According to the grading companies, the graders cannot see the min grade you would accept.

Is there a place on their websites that they state this? I haven't seen/heard this before. Thanks.

I have seen PSA respond that on the Collector's Unlimited message board, but I cannot find it on their website.

Curious on a vintage card I have, I do not see any creases on the card at all, however if I run my fingers across the surface (top to bottom) I can feel ripples or waves. At least that's the best I can explain it, again visually nothing appears but its not totally flat and smooth feeling if you were to do this across any other card.

Would something like this drastically affect the grade?

Yes, surface wrinkles normally max the grade out at PSA 5 EX. If there are a few of them, probably a 4.

Do you know how companies grade the centering of mini framed relics from sets such as allen & ginter and topps 206? I have a card that I want to grade where the mini card is not centered within the frame itself but the border of the actual card looks to be well centered. The rest of the card looks great to me. Just not sure if they take the centering of the mini within the frame into consideration or not.

Apologies if this has been asked before but if you are bringing cards to a show that Beckett is at to send to them for grading do you package them up as if you were sending them yourself or do you bring the cards only in card savers/sleeves?

Just the cards in holders and sleeves.

Quick question, hoping someone can help...

I'm sending a card to BGS via USPS priority mail, with 2 days grading service, minimum 9.5 grade.
I filled out the order sheet manually (because the product seemed it wasn't registered online yet), and inserted that sheet into the small flat rate box.
I wrote "minimum grade 9.5. Please do not slab / grade if below 9.5".
Is there anything I need to write on outside of the small flat rate box?
Or, does BGS just understand any package that comes to them is basically for grading, so I don't have to write anything on the box itself?

I believe PSA requires people to write "10 days service" etc on outside of the box, so I was wondering if there was any requirement for BGS.

I've done grading before, but only through breakers or personally handing them over to BGS rep at local shows, so this is my first time mailing it in.

Appreciate the help in advance.
Thank you.

Nope, nothing on the outside. I would just put one small sticky on each toploader/cardsaver reiterating the minimum grade. That's what I do...never too OCD when dealing with minimum grades (I think they appreciate that too).

Good luck with your Topps Sapphire grades!

Anyone know how long it generally takes for BGS to upload your order to the 'My BGS Orders' page after they received it? I sent my first ever order in (2 day service) and they received it yesterday morning/afternoon, but still haven't seen it uploaded in the 'My BGS Orders' page.

If you received the email confirmation then you are good. On longer deadline orders it takes weeks to show, so I would not be surprised on a 2 day order if it gets logged in right before it gets ready to ship back.

Haven’t received email confirmation. Just the USPS tracking saying it was delivered.

EDIT: Just got the email from Beckett

I've had a bit of success using the advice in the forum. Quick question about corner grades. I've submitted a couple of black refractors with absolutely no white marks or any noticeable damage to the corners and they come back with 9.5 sub grades. What else is considered in the corner grade?

Was at a show today and saw a bunch of BGS graded cards with only an overall grade and no subgrades on the front or back. What's the point of this? I thought the appeal of BGS was the subgrade factor.

The appeal is that it's cheaper and won't take a year to get to you. And some collectors aren't Type A or OCD enough to care.

So if you choose not get subgrades you get them returned faster?
