Founders is releasing Curmudgeon's Better Half in August as part of their Barrel Aged Series. This is definitely one that you don't want to miss.

Well it is a really nice brewery state of the art everything. They give you 4 coins at the start of the tour that are good for one free 4 ounce sampler each, since my wife doesn't drink I had 8 to use plus 2 extras I got for answering questions during the tour. I only used 8 of them as I gave 2 to my wife for her crafts swap thing. I tried turbo dog too much coffee flavor but not bad, I tried hop on it which is an IPA but much too bitter for my taste, tried the pineapple forgot the name of it but that was good, I had had andygator before but had 2 of those as they are a bit more abv, I think 9.2 and the last 2 coins I used for strawberry. I had a nice little buzz after the tour but that was okay. Abita is coming out with a watermelon lime ale on June 1st so I am waiting on that one, all in all it was a fun day.

Nice!!! I may go sometime in the summer. My in laws camp at Yogi Bear a lot and I may try to make a trip when we visit. I loaded up on the Strawberry Harvest as people have told me it’s just a seasonal deal. I don’t know if you heard of Covington brewery but they also make a strawberry brew also and a couple others

For the price and time of year, nothing beats a Sam Adams Octoberfest. We get a few cases every year and cry a bit once it is out of stock and they start promoting the Winter brews.

Tripel Karmeliet. Blonde beeing brewed since 1679 in Belgium , won multiple awards. First one might not got down smooth like your 4% stuff down south.

Most southerners are whiskey drinkers so I don't think they would have a problem with a high octane beer.

You can never go wrong with Two Hearted. I stopped by Bell's General Store today and picked up a growler of Double Two Hearted. I'm saving it to share with friends at my Sunday BBQ.

I also picked up a mix six from Bell's as well. They are selling leftover bottles of Black Note from last year so I got one of those. They are also selling their Expedition Stout that was bottled in November 2015. If you have never had aged Expedition, I recommend buying some bottle every year and hide them away in your cellar. Aged Expedition is absolutely wonderful.

I put a big dent in a 30 pack of Busch Light over the weekend while in the mountains of West Virginia.

and now that I'm back in civilization I've started on this 12 pack from Firestone Walker. I haven't had the EX-1 Pale yet.

A trip to Bell's is a rare treat for me. I live 1.5 hours away so I can't just go there any time. However, I do work just 10 minutes from Founders.

I would highly recommend the west side of Michigan for anyone considering a beercation. The beercation market around Grand Rapids continues to get bigger year after year. There are a lot of great established breweries in the area along with a lot of great young breweries getting their feet wet. There's plenty else to do in the west side of Michigan as well.
