No no, you're definitely right. Guys like Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, etc weren't helped by juicing.

There have been 8 60 HR seasons in MLB. Six of them were between 1998 and 2001. The other 114 years (since 1900) have two.

There are hundreds of players I could use as an example to shut this down completely but i'm just going to slam it shut right now.

Brady Anderson in 1994:

Brady Anderson 1996:

In 10 seasons in the majors before 1996 Brady Anderson managed 75 career HR's. He hit 50(!!!) Hr's in 1996 after he showed up looking like that.

For his career Brady managed 210 career HR's. So I suppose it's just a coincidence that in 1996 he showed up jacked beyond belief and managed to hit nearly 1/4 of his entire career total of HR's in one season just by accident.

Distance arguments aside, the benefits of steroids in relation to a players ability to perform at their peak for a longer period of time is what really bastardized the record books. If you look at guys like Griffey Jr their careers start to dwindle at a certain age. Injuries take longer to heal, muscle doesn’t stay or build on the body as well.

Now if you look at Bonds during that same age frame, his numbers get better, because he’s able to continuously go out and perform night in and night out while being bigger faster and stronger.

Op are you just trying to find a way to pump up demand for some junk era stuff or something? Really the only thing that would make sense cus no one can really be dumb enough to actually think steroids didn’t have any effect...

Because it can greatly improve performance. No big mystery. Was it Ruth/Mantle who said they tried something and it made them sick, so they didn't try it again? Just because you or Babe Ruth had no success with being a cheater doesn't mean it isn't helping PLENTY of guys. Can't we talk about Trout's PED's?

Have you ever heard of science? Are you going to tell us the world is flat too? Even the players know that steroids help players. That is why they agreed to testing and harsher and harsher penalties. It would make no sense to take something that didn't help performance and risk a lifetime ban from the game that pays them millions of dollars.

Steroids = quicker recovery, quicker recovery = faster muscle growth, faster muscle growth = more strength, more strength = quicker bat speed, quicker bat speed = further and frequent home runs. Natural skill and talent becomes amplified.
