Default Rizzo think they play too much baseball.

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2...-much-baseball

I think it is funny, I do agree that it is too early to start playing but back in my day baseball players had to walk 10 miles one way, up a hill, in the snow just to go to a game. lol

I kind of agree, there are a ton of games and it's such a long season but if the interest and finances are there, why not? It seems like that's all Rizzo does is whine and cry though. Back in the day players had full time jobs in the off season and got paid no where near what it is today. He needs a reality check.

I’m obviously a big Rizzo homer, but that doesn’t mean I reflexively agree with everything he says or does. I totally disagree with him here, and think this was a rather dumb thing to throw out there.

As others have noted, players in many past generations had it much much harder in many aspects of personal and professional life than many of these guys today, so it just strikes me as a really foolish thing to say, because it can really only come off as whiney.

I have a lot of respect for the health issues Rizzo has overcome and how he has tried to use his celebrity to help pediatric cancer initiatives, but I’m just not with him on this, and I totally get it if others who aren’t fans of his to begin with are pretty harsh in their criticism of these statements.

As a fan, I hate this idea. If anything, I think we should ramp up the games to 250 As a player though, I can fully understand where he is coming from.

I do fear that in 10 years, we are going to be down to about 60 games a year of 6 inning baseball with a 1 hour time limit.

I am happy to trade my 6:30 am - 3 pm desk job with him any day of the week. Hell, I'll trade and only take 1/5 of his salary.

I expect you'll be able to produce exactly 1/5th of his home runs, RBI, runs, walks, etc too

This is the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. Imagine being lucky enough to be (1) able to play in the MLB, and (2) get paid millions to do it, and then whine about the cold weather in April.

Rizzo is more than welcome to take extra games off, say in October when the Cubs face either the Rockies or Dodgers

Maybe they smash their bodies in the bitter cold with Un-guaranteed contracts like the NFL??? What a cupcake.

He is playing a game for a living. I played the same game in college and didn't get $0.01 for it.

If I complain to my boss that I want to work less days a year, I would get laughed at. You don't like the amount of times you have to go to work v. what you get paid, quit and find a new job.

This scenario assumes the Cubs and Dodgers stop stinking at some point.

I like your optimism.

He has a WS under his belt and a hack of a contract, he can say what he wants, but I think there are more players that do not mind to play the full season to avoid a salary cut.

Good for you for being able to have an independent opinion, even though one of your favorite players (or teams) has another. As evidenced many times on these boards, that is a characteristic that very few have. For what it's worth, I agree with your opinion as well.

I like how Rizzo tries to use the justification that they'd be paid less. Stars won't be paid less. Seems like they'd be paid the same with less work and more vacation time. Sounds like a great deal.

Don't go too crazy. He still worships at the altar of Kris Bryant. Bryant could sacrifice a puppy on camera and he'd find a way to justify it.

Rizzo, Sale, and Price should start their own Cupcake Club of MLB.
