I was thinking the same way. The number of possible complete sets is going down and will continue to do so. i plan on buying the bundle each week and then pick up an extra card or two of PC guys or ones i think i can get a return on later on down the road.

Im totally in the "eh 15 bucks a week, i can swing that" mind set on buying these.

I think the fact that these are portraits is helpful to her level of detail ...

I think they rushed her on Judge and Berlinger last year to get them in the product when maybe they didn’t initially plan on it. They weren’t the same quality as the rest.

I believe it. I didn't collect those so I am in the dark on those...

I’m trying this out and have purchased he first 2 bundles and will this week as well. If this ends up being $780 for the year do you think the value will be there down the road in terms of a complete set? In other words, if I ever decided to sell the first year “set” would I get more or less than the original buy-in?

I’m not doing this to flip the set and just love the cards, but just curious as to what others think of long term value on this.

Wow, the PRs on this mean that someone at Topps Marketing is doing their job properly.

Just wow!

Regular Topps Now in 200-300 form and over 2000 on Nick Markakis Topps Living???

I don't even know how to respond to this.

I question long term value on common players with these PR. But how will this affect PR of Topps Now moving forward? I mean the same 50 or 100 main Topps Now buyers aren't buying 2000 Markakis, are they?

Will PRs of common Topps Now become 2000 plus? (Imagine how that would affect the previous 2 years secondary market value...)

It's the only card the guy will have in the set FOREVER as long as he stays on the same team. I think that is the reason...

I must disagree. I can't see anyone on the planet saying, "I had best order this Nick Markakis card for $5-$10 because he will never be in this set again."

I just don't see it. I prefer to think it's all about Topps Marketing!

Yes it's a problem here in Texas...how long it takes to get here. Still waiting on mine and my ST-10 Now cards...and the ones I bought after market are already shipping out. It's actually pathetic the amount of time difference on shipping. I suppose I maybe get them before California

Set selling in Now is a sure lose but with these you might get some buyers...at more then $5 a card.

I know that I’ve pledged in the Baseball section to try to be more constructive and positive about him, but still very disappointed in Topps for featuring the potential Faux-tani in this set before he establishes he even belongs in the major leagues. I realize the economic realities here, but still, that type of a move does cheapen the whole thing for me.

In a set like this, too bad they’ve defined it in such a way that they can’t feature folks like Negro League stars who never got to have early Topps baseball cards because of social evils. I’d much rather see some of those guys in a beautiful set instead of Ohtani. Also, I think doing Ohtani before Ichiro is just that much more insulting.

After looking closer to the originals, I would say (but don't know for certain) it looks like she may lay down some solid flat colors in paint (gouache?) and then uses the color pencils to tighten up the details. Very effective in getting as close to a photograph as you can get.

Hey Monty -

She puts up a really interesting step-by-step process of each original on her instagram in an album for each card, starting with the pencil sketch.

Would love to get your thoughts on it. I think it looks like pencil, then marker, then colored pencil.

For everyone else - they are just super cool to check out. Joe especially will love the Rhys one!

I am not an artist, but I was lucky enough to see the originals in person, and yes there was definitely some kind of paint or ink involved in addition to the colored pencils.

This guy is stealing jjm’s idea.

And violating eBay rules big time.

I just don't see it. I prefer to think it's all about Topps Marketing!

There could be some truth in that, if you collect the player and really like how these cards look. Let's say you collect George Springer and you're following the set. Assuming several other Astros get cards first, and knowing he's not a free agent for four more years, you could be waiting a very long time for his card. I guarantee you'll be buying as soon as it comes out.

On the other hand, it is the marketing that convinces you that the card will never be available again and now's the time to buy. Even if it's just, "I'd rather get this over with and buy the card now instead of trying to find it for $1 less in six months."

We were talking about Nick Markakis, not George Springer! LOL
