Saw that card. It’s gorgeous but Glasnow is a hot potato from a investment standpoint. He has the stuff, not the control. I’d like to see him get it together

Time to do some rankings. Here's my rankings based on offense only. I'm trying to balance short and long term while judging, as well as quality and quantity. There's definitely a few sets of teams that I'd be comfortable putting in just about any order within my rankings-
Some squads are super close to each other. I'd also like to note that even my last ranked offense is still solid. There's really no bad offenses in this league, but there are definitely some that are better than others. Anyways, here's what I came up with-

1. Bam- How did he manage to get Trout, Harper, Bryant, Correa, Freeman, and Cano? Must be boring knowing that you won't have to touch your offense at all for the next 3+ years

2. Gum- Surprisingly, bam hasn't completely run away with the #1 slot. I think he's a safe #2, but Gum really isn't too far behind- Votto, Altuve, Machado, Betts, Benintendi, and Xander is the main core here

3. Tex- Another team with a bunch of studs- Posey, Rizzo, Arenado, Blackmon, Yelich are the main guys, and there's some that will put up nice numbers without being in the top tier- Hosmer, Rhys, Lamb, Castellanos, Bruce. I think this is the most complete offense, as really the only hole here is 2B (and even that's not too bad with Chris Taylor). I just like bam's and Gum's top guys a bit more at this point

4. Hollywood- Don't let my record over the past few years blind you, I've put together a nice offense. Gary Sanchez, Jose Ramirez, Dozier, and JD Martinez pace my bats, and guys like Sano, Eaton, Buxton, and more pitch in more than enough in depth points. I'm also set up incredibly well for the future, with the young guys already mentioned and guys like Eloy, Senzel, Vlad Jr, Rodgers, and McMahon set to make their appearances over the next 2 years

5. Homerun- There's not many exciting names here other than Stanton and Donaldson, but the job gets done more than well enough. There's solid players at just about every position, but age is going to be a concern for a few guys soon, and there's a few guys I'm not completely sold on as well. Still, this will be more than a competent offense for the next few years

6. jacfire- Contreras, Edwin, Springer, and Andrus are all great options at their positions. I'm not too sold on guys like Moustakas, Odor, Franco, and Dee, but there's also some guys that quietly put up pretty good totals- Khris, Marte, and I see Piscotty having a nice year too. Also has Torres waiting to make a difference soon, which will be a nice boost

7. SAF- SAF has quietly accumulated a bunch of weapons. Bellinger, Lindor, Judge, Bregman, and Justin Turner are the big names, but he's relying on a few less than desirable guys (Jed Lowrie, d'Arnaud, Fowler) while some more of his guys reach the bigs (Meadows, Brinson, Dahl). There's also a couple that could be big or could be meh, with Schwarber, Mancini, and Bell

8. Awz- It's been a waiting game for him lately, has he has some young studs that have just recently hit the bigs- Seager, Devers, Gallo, Mazara, Moncada, and Reed. Lots of potential there, and has a few unexciting but solid names mixed in, like Gattis, Schoop, and Polanco. There's a bit of risk here based on how the young guys progress, but still a lot of desirable options here in a dynasty setting

9. Seth- There's not many exciting names after Ozuna and Abreu, but pretty much all of his guys get the job done- Castillo, Merrifield, Corey's brother, Segura, Jones, Nunez, and Alonso all put up solid totals. Not an exciting offense overall, but a good one. Loses a few points when looking at the long term due to a few guys getting up there in age (Abreu, Jones, Alonso, Kipnis) without many super young guys set to step into their shoes

10. 88UD- There's not any top end talent here, but there's a bunch of decent to good options- Beltre, Realmuto, Pham, Braun, Inciarte, JBJ. Conforto could make this offense more dangerous if he returns to form after injury. Overall fairly similar to Seth's team, in that there's not any top talent or exciting names, but the guys definitely get the job done. Both of them by no means have a bad offense, despite coming in at 9 and 10 in my rankings

11. D2R- Guys I like include Santana, Cruz, Rosario, LeMahieu, Rendon, and Cain. There's some question marks after that (Suarez, Simmons, Reddick), but there's not any major holes. Again kinda similar to Seth's and 88UD's offenses, but I'd prefer their lineup to deathy's at this point

12. Fire- Even my last ranked offense still has some nice pieces- McCutchen, Carpenter, Harrison, Dickerson, Duvall, Morrison, and Myers will all put up good totals, even if they don't reach the elite tier. Main reason for me not being able to put Fire higher in the rankings is a lack of upside. Again, a bunch of the pieces here are solid, but there's not anyone that jumps out at me as having great potential. You pretty much know what you'll get from everyone at this point

I'll get to a pitching ranking later on this week

Didn't Hollywood do rankings like 2 weeks ago or am I just insane?

Lulz I just looked back and I guess I did. It's been pretty busy lately, and I hardly know right from left anymore. Really needing this spring break right now (next week!)

Kinda funny, my top 6 stayed the same other than swapping Tex and Gum, but my 7-11 changed slightly, including awz raising 3 slots. Anyways, I put a bit more thought into this round and gave slightly better justifications, if that counts for anything

I miss the days when there was basically nonstop discussion going on in here

We're kind of in a holding period right now after the draft has ended but before the season has started, so I think the discussion will increase once we get closer to Opening Day.

Don't forget I do have high-end help coming at catcher with Francisco Mejia to balance the age of my offense, along with big upside in Hiura. But I agree, I am going to need to transition one or two guys this season possibly for youth.

D2R has Acuna, so he's got to be the favorite going in this year.

Thanks. You're free to add someone to your minors squad to replace him, too. Just post in the minors thread

Don’t worry Chris Taylor will be riding the pine when Kingery comes up taking after his brother Rhys Hoskins

Mine are set.

I started thinking about my best and worst trades...

Stephen Piscotty, Mike Montgomery, Zach Davies for Chris Archer

Tanner Roark for Charlie Blackmon

Josh Donaldson and Eduardo Nunez for Dansby Swanson and Nolan Arenado

Dansby Swanson for Tyler Glasnow and Robbie Ray

Worst one yet has to be Paul Goldschmidt for Christian Yelich and (gulp) Matt Moore

I'm still haunted by trading Mookie and Schwarbs for Buxton as my first trade in this league (2015)

Sonny Gray and Kole Calhoun for Goldschmidt and Tanaka looks pretty good now (2015)

Moving Goldschmidt and Jimmy Nelson for Jose Abreu, Yelich, Darvish, and Snell looks good too (2016)

Somehow I moved Panik and Kolby Allard for Blackmon in 2016, but then I messed up pretty good moving Blackmon for Tanner Roark and Randall Grichuk

Moving Pujols and Nate Jones for Eloy Jimenez and Mitch Keller has the chance to go down as my best trade as long as this league will last

Since Texas is starting Calhoun in the minors, I 'll do the same. Transaction recorded in the minors thread. Dropping him in the league for now.

And then me. The division could be decided in the first 2 weeks.

Edit: In the first 3 weeks, the 3 of us all play each other.

Pretty jealous I'm not in this league. Jealous that I'm not part of a league like this.
