Thankfully the windows next to my desk are sealed shut.
Seriously ill right now thinking about it.

And sold it on ebay, not here. So when you see all these threads with people giving advice on the next big card, or big thing, they don't know either!!!!!!

Ouch.

Seriously i'm ill thinking about the opportunity I had to retire early. I don't know how I didn't end up super collecting Tom Brady as a diehard Pats fan. I think about what could have been.

I passed on a BGS 8.5 Contenders auto about 3 years ago. It was a week or two before Super Bowl 49. At the time I think they were going for about $550-$650? I really wanted a 9 but those were about $1,000 and I didn't have quite enough. I ended up not buying either because I was thinking I didn't want to get stuck with "just" an 8.5.

The only silver lining I have in all of this is I know I would have sold it long before now (still a profit at least) but there's no way I'd still have it right now given the prices for an 8.5.

At least that's what I keep telling myself.

What do collectors here think about Brady's 2001 cards? People seem to be jumping on his 2002 cards, but not many are mentioning his cards from 2001. (rookie fx/playoff preferred/pacific cards)

Do you see any future movement in his 2001 cards?

I think the answers is yes, absolutely his 2001 cards have room to grow. The 2001 Playoff Preferred card is great looking IMO.

Of course. All you have to do is look at the basketball forum and see a parallel connection of MJ to Brady cards. People will be collecting all years of Brady cards just like they do MJ. It's actually really great for some of the other products that have been low in resale value because you'll always have that chance of pulling a Brady. Just like if you bought 90's basketball products, you'd be happy to hit a Jordan insert etc.

Same here, I literally stopped collecting in 2000. And leading up to that all I ever bought were RCs, in large quantities, like 10-20 per card. Ah well.

It's because there are so few cards from 2001 that no one really talks about them. Most of the F/X on ebay are usually listed as 2002 even though they are 2001. I picked up PSA 10's of those quick when the rookies started going crazy.

I do like his 2001 preferred, and it seems that is a tough card to get on ebay.

Yep. Only 7 2001 Brady cards on ebay right now and 3 of them are the Atomic patch for a few thousand each. Two F/X, 1 Playoff Preferred and one Preferred National. That's pretty much why no one talks about them.

I’m the sucker who paid $99 for the PSA 9 playoff preferred last week.

Just FINALLY pulled the trigger on a Lone Star 2002 Statium Club PSA 8 on-card auto. Pretty happy since it’s his only 3rd auto card in a Pats uniform.

yes it is...but when he wins it...the prices will double. its an anticipated win price but the actual win price will be definitely greater

I like the Playoff Preferred. I had one of those great feelings last month with one. PSA 10 and the bid was at $103 or something like that. I bid a crazy number at the end because I wanted it and won it for $105. I love when that happens

So with in the last few weeks Brady rookie card prices have been blowing up. And I can image that happening around every super bowl he is in. Do the high prices now reflect what will the be the base price come after the super bowl? Looking to grab one for my PC and just wondering if there is ever a better time to buy or if they will just keep increasing.
Thanks.

No one knows because Brady isn't like everyone else. Usually football cards go down in the offseason but his didn't last year. They settled a little but didn't really drop.

Now is the worst time to buy. Wait until after the SB, whether they win or lose.

Not trying to be rude, but are you newer to the hobby?

You're saying that, for instance, raw Bowman Chrome Bradys will be going for $800-1000 if they win the SB?

I hope you're right, but the reality is that this is close to the apex of the hype and prices.

I'm torn on this one.

If Brady somehow has a monster game in the superbowl, Pats win, and he gets the MVP of the game (along with the NFL MVP) then I could see his prices continue to climb.

Every time we think his prices have peaked, they climb higher. This has been proven time and time again, and I think they will do the same if the above happens.

On the other hand, if he lays a huge egg, they may drop a little, but won't sink. The legend is cemented.
