I wonder if Brent will chime in.. I know he gets 80+ cases of heritage every year. It would be dumb to cut him, but many distributors don't mind biting the hand that feeds them. I just stopped doing all business with one of my distributors over their allocation games just recently.

I hope he does chime in, an order that large being cut would have a big hit on his business. I hope he is doing well after his hospital stay. Just shot him a DM on twitter.

Read the earlier posts in this thread. This product was on allocation from back in September/October. Most Disty's had pre-orders up 10x from last year and topps is refusing to increase production to match that increased demand....hence preorder case prices are in the 900-1000 range. So anyone buying from disty will have their order slashed to 2016 levels. It is likely topps is increasing production maybe 10% (just a guess), but they could have increased it 100% and still sold out based on disty orders. That would have been bad come April after the initial run...as product would be massively overproduced.

And there is no way (my opinion only) that ohtani is in heritage until the high numbers. Gotta save something to make high numbers attractive.

I wonder if pre-orders would have been up so much if Topps hadn't started stuffing Heritage with rookie autographs like every other product?

Let's not forget...Heritage is supposed to be a retro product.....it didn't have significant numbers of rookie autographs until 2016. Prior to that, Kershaw and Posey were the only major rookie autos that weren't in HHN.

Stuffing Heritage with rookie autos has done nothing but drive up box prices and make set-building more expensive.

It's the Judge affect. Those "action variations" are selling for BIG money. I realized how much return Heritage could have when I first opened a case of 2015 Heritage High. Graded Correa, Bryant & Lindor. It was like the gift that kept giving. Most of the collecting world caught on this year if they hadn't already.

I would say retail hanger boxes, I pulled a throwback & a super from them but pulled autos & relics from all 3 types. Though from blasters last year you got 3 SPs and better chances of a hit.

This allocation problem will prevent me from buying my 2 cases this year. I know that I'm a small fish in a big pond but it sucks. I do card shows specifically to make some $ so I can bust Heritage because it's my favorite product. It's frustrating because I do believe that Topps is hurting the hobby and hobby shops by not supplying them with adequate amounts requested. The only bright side is that I'll be able to buy a complete master set for around 1/3 (or less) of what it would cost me to get a case.

That's kinda the problem in a nutshell, isn't it.

Heritage is now just another product that is discussed in terms of its financial "return" (i.e. profit potential), rather than the cards/set themselves.

i would replace your use of "Heritage" with all cards, especially now that it is 2018.

over on the BKB section, Prizm is all the rage, but some folks seem to not realize (or care because they are investors and not collectors) that Prizm is well made AND well printed.

I think it has to do with it's universal collectibility. How many Judge RCs did we have this year? Which one sells the best? The card quality, the design, the photography, the nostalgia. It all plays a factor and anyone that truly collects can tell pretty quickly that Heritage is a very collectible.product.

Nope. My LCS was told he could only get one (he has received 4 yearly), and I'm not paying the ridiculous prices that are being asked of them at the moment.

I cannot believe Heritage has already reached the 1969 set. Looking forward to the complete autograph checklist.

This isn't Topps doing the allocating. It is the distributors.

That is a fact.....

My 2 dist have cut me from 8-10 cases to 4 this year..

Guarantee in a week or 2 after release they will have it back up for 100 a box..

They will say they bought it from secondary market. but we all know what is going on

It sucks but i really dont blame them.. this stopped being a hobby long ago

I can see it going there...

Finest baseball bombed 2 years ago..

But that is because they wanted 110 and cost from dist was usually 82

If they start doing it at a lower price i can see it working big..

Seems FOTL is going well for panini
