Default Ben Simmons or Joel Embiid

Who is the better player overall? Which player would end having better stats once their careers are complete? Do you guys see them winning a championship in the next five years together?

Embiids health is what makes me scared to bet on him.

There's no wrong answer but I will take Embiid, he's a total game changer, not just stats.

I think Embiid's flaws are much easier to fix (game wise)

These guys are gonna wreak havoc for a while though

Could you elaborate on the game changer part; Killer instinct like Kobe? So why all the hype around Simmons when he is not even the best player on his own team?

Is that implying that Simmons has flaws that are harder to fix?

I think that Embiid can be more dominant on the court but Simmons is a better natural basketball talent

Apples/Oranges. What's their ceilings? Sort of a Kobe/Shaq situation on the very high-end. I'd pick Simmons long term with big men's history in the hobby. Andre Drummond? Remember when he was the flavor of the month(s) for a bit? Injuries, ceilings, and peaks are hard to predict.

*I love Embiid game btw. My prediction is based on hobby history.

Embiid dominates the game more, he is elite defensively, spreads the floor more on offense, oh and if he gets fouled he makes his ft's. Simmons deficits are a poor outside and ft shooter

Better overall? Embiid. They both have pretty unique skillsets that pair well with their size, but Embiid is the one who can dominate on a superstar level.

Right now I'm not sure if Simmons can score 40 in a game, he just doesn't have the ability to score outside the paint, and if he gets fouled he's not gonna capitalize on his FT chances. Once there's more film on him, opposing defenses will be better able to contain him, so we'll see how he adjusts, not a great sign that he had a whole year to work on his shot though and it doesn't look like much/any progress was made.

The offense is not designed for Ben to shoot so it's a little early to say that he's a bad jump shooter he just doesn't take jumpshots.

Simmons is 7-15 (.467) from 15-25ft this season which isn't bad. It's just the way Brett Brown runs his offense.

I will say that some of Simmons jump shots do look pretty terrible but I think the jury is out until he starts shooting more

^that's quite a rosy view of it. There's a reason Brown doesn't design jumpshots for him.

He's at 31% outside the paint per nbasavant

Eh, still a small sample size.

Not saying he's a good shooter but I just don't think he shoots enough to say he's a bad shooter either. Time will tell. Either way, it's working for him without taking jump shots and that'll only get easier once Markell gets back

Embiid but it's close. i love both of them but Embiid's size and personality just don't come around often. I trust The Process!

He's not a good shooter. Typically, guys who can't shoot free throws are not good outside shooters. I've yet to see an nba player who can't shoot free throws but can hit from everywhere else.

This ranking is crazy town...

Kyrie, who's statistically not even the most important player on his team (I'm sure the Boston fans will roast me for this one), being 2nd is not ridiculous but he's still ranked 2-3 spots too high.

Steph is 4th and Giannis is not top 5? Give me a break lol.

I think Embiid/Porzingis is a toss up but Porzingis is doing more with less right now.

Embiid. He is already beloved by the city and the guy who I think will always demand the ball and have the ball. Stat wise its going to be Embiid as well (if he stays healthy) he could be best player in NBA not best big, best player. He has legit 2 way O and D. He can shoot from anywhere play with any group and the stats show the team is LARGELY better with him on vs off. That said either guy works Simmons is a beast. Im just not sure how much more simmons can really improve he might just average 19-22 points and get 8 and 8 every year. Not sure he works hard at his game either. Look how hard Giannis works and he still cant shoot. Simmons shoots with his wrong hand and will never be a good shooter hes WAY worse then Giannis.

If we assume health (big if) you want Embiid 10 times out of 10 if you were starting a team

Simmons is a legit freak though.

He’s way ahead of the Wiggins, Fultz, Ingram level prospect

Wow this guy Simmons really suck if he doesn't improve his shooting and free throws over the next year or so. I would sell all the cards of him while hes hot now. Seems like another Wiggins hype machine?

Embiid but his health will always be the question. The guy has offense, defense and a personality that makes him the fan favorite.
