Default What about this hobby makes you scratch your head in confusion?

For me, it's the fact that hype sells for higher prices than success. I just don't understand why people drop the same coin on an Ingram treasures auto patch as they would a reigning current MVP's exquisite rookie auto patch, who also has very few signed cards in general and shows no sign of signing anytime soon. I get, big LA market but damn man.... $1800 for a Westbrook exquisite is severely undervalued

For me it's the amount of time and money I spend on pictures of grown men.

That any card can be considered undervalued at one thousand eight hundred dollars. ...and no I'm not having a go at you, I'm being completely serious.

There's a lot more, but I don't think the text limit would allow me to type everything out.

Stock market works the same way. It values future earnings more than past and present earnings.

That jordan rookies and lebron chrome rookies sell for so much even though they were mass produced to the moon and back. When I check pop reports it just blows my mind

Hey. It's down big but I love GE. Love it. Love it. Love it. Love it.

Great example of a future earnings company too. TSLA literally loses money q-over-q, y-over-y let even if it made $1 per share(it doesn't, it has a negative EPS) it would trade at 300x. A greater multiple than Amazon, google and Microsoft COMBINED. Kudos, sir.

Gambling doesn't give you chores to do when you lose the money.

In a way it's been like this since the 90's. I remember when Vince Carter first came out, his Sp Authentic was selling for $600 and at one point reached nearly $1k. It's all hype and the hope to make some money out of things. Besides, everyone collects their own way. Some don't mind spending the money once something new comes out, some would rather wait. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't.

That people scam.

Honestly, if someone wants to steal a few hundred dollars, he or she has many many options that are both more mainstream and less traceable than sports cards.

I just dealt with a seller in China who tried to scam me for $22.77, I guess there are some people willing to do maximum work for a minimal amount. A dollar is a dollar to some scammers.

Probably ran into PLA Cyber Division which has been on eBay and other websites committing fraud.

What makes me scratch my head is when card collectors try to explain financial markets.

Ben Simmons prices and the people buying his cards at those prices. That kid's gonna have to win multiple MVPs and championships for anyone to make their money back on his cards.

So enlighten me on how an equity is valued?

No google, just your explanation.

I'm not going to derail the thread. My initial post was in line with this thread.

Your post? Just looking for free advice.

I'm thinking maybe this is a question in a college course that he's having a hard time answering, creative strategy to say the least.
