Here's the great thing about him: he's incredibly smart, incredibly mature. That's what leaps out about him, reading all his scouting reports. It's evinced by his restraint at the plate, his willingness and ability to adjust.
First, he was susceptible to low and away. No longer. Recently, the White Sox tried to come in on his hands— we just saw how that game plan worked out, these last two games. Now he's getting a rep for having a great eye, so the umps are giving him some more breaks on the low ones. His position in the box makes it so hard to throw him effective inside strikes, because if he feels it's in on his hands when he's standing that much off the plate, he knows to take; it's a ball. He doesn't reach for anything too outside, because he knows he's not in position to reach it. That feeds and fuels his restraint on the outside stuff. When he's down 0-2, he works full counts. He's playing chess, this kid. And it's amazing to witness someone with all these physical gifts, enhanced by his mental game. And so much of this game is mental. You take this insane Triple Crown-caliber performance, put it on the Yankee stage, add the name, the gentle giant charisma, the massive and catchy marketing campaigns, the post-Jeter landscape without a face man for the franchise, the perfect selfless attitude and character that all parents want their children to emulate, the lovable personal history with his adoption, the cartoonish lasers and moon shots, and man, we have a very special, very rare baseball player here. A budding icon. I haven't had this much fun collecting an active player since my youth with Mattingly, Gooden, and Straw. And as much as I love collecting Shoeless Joe and The Mick, I don't get to take their cards out and watch them rake live! Last edited by Doctor Claw; 06-29-2017 at 01:17 AM. |

Haha definitely not. I've already made 5x my money on Judge Heritage and Archives autos and visit this thread daily to proclaim for love for Judge. I have a stash of very nice Judge cards that come from reading this thread since day 1. Just because I slapped your argument in the face doesn't mean you need to get cranky...there's plenty of room on the Judge train so pull up your blouse and hop on for the ride

Does he have autos in 2017 gypsy queen retail? Went to Walmart today and all they had was gypsy queen and Topps series 2 blasters.

Aaron Judge's 1st RC Rookie Bowman Chrome already came out...it just so happens it came 1st in regular Bowman. And there might be a 2nd Bowman Chrome variant in Bowman Chrome; and a 3rd Bowman Chrome variant in Bowman Draft. And I agree, Topps Chrome parallels are just plain ugly. |

I have one blue ink auto and one RC variation (and chrome /999), so I'll stay happy with those. We'll see what happens with the 2017 Bowman Chrome auto prices. For avoidance of any doubt, I was not the buyer of the gold auto I mentioned yesterday nor I own base auto either. I wish I had a base. I do have a case of Topps Chrome Hobby pre-ordered while they were still relatively low in price. Hoping I could get a Judge auto in there.

In regard to Judges Bowman autos. Just how many Versions are there?
So many parallels... Bowman, Draft and chrome, all the colors etc. You have Gypsy, black, missing black plate, name, solid black, purple etc. Archives, base, peach and blue, along with the Bazooka and rookie star... When all is said and done Heritage is the winner in my opinion if you want a more SP auto and without all the gimmicks. Heritage... blue ink and the SP red ink... that's it. Not a different colored card or refractor, just the auto changes. I get it if you cannot afford a Heritage and want an auto, trust me... I wish I could even afford any of the other autos. When it comes to talking about which auto will be the best... well you have visual tastes which vary from person to person, but to say all those others are more rare than his Heritage I think is a bit of a stretch. H is not the prettiest looking auto... but I am willing to bet it will be the most expensive in the long run, and by default the most coveted auto. |

I do think these arguments over which auto is supreme is funny as most people buy what they can either afford and looks good to them. I know it may be shocking to some but I know collectors who despise the 68 set design and won't buy any of the autos.
Conversely they love the 83 design and only want the Archives auto. This is how collectors collect, not based on print runs or what is "THE" auto to have. Also I wish we would stop money shaming collectors. Most people have budgets and if you think your a big baller by buying Judge Heritage autos that's kinda sad. |
