and as good faith in gonna track down any artist of cards that I actually sold that we're in fact altered the proccedes of what I sold the card for if they will in fact accept it . and for all thoes that think they know me or what kind of person I am well let me inform you . I constantly gave away free sets chase card tons of giveaways to the star wars trading group I was a part of never had one bad trading transaction and not one person can say anything bad about me untill this sketch card situation and I wish to God I never bought them but what's done is done and I have to move forward and am gonna put this behind me . you all have a wonderful weekend

I've seen lots of people who have been accused of wrongdoings use this phrase, but have yet to see one who turned out to be innocent.

I've made plenty of mistakes in life, but my integrity means everything to me. If I were ever accused of something like this, I would fight tooth and nail to clear my name. If the Boba Fett was pulled from a break, I wouldn't sleep until I found the video.

The fact that you are so quick to just "move forward" speaks volumes.

Thank you houdini. And for those who wanted to see some proof (which I don't think was anyone other than him) here was the chat I had with him before this blew up and he realized it was a bad thing.

I had initially asked him if the listings were his and asked him if I could buy the un-altered ones because I was looking to get some authentic, simple sketches on the cheap.

I've erased his name because it would still feel wrong to post his name for all to see but I can guarantee you it was this guy from my time in the Facebook group.

sketch artists and Topps should see this... and they should understand that simple pencil sketches are being used in these cases because they can just be erased and printed over.

I'm fine with black and white if it's detailed but way too many quickie sketches sneak thru. What's even worse is when artists are fully capable with their APs but the pack inserted sketches take 5min at most to do.

I don't think you can just dismiss it...
think about this..
you can try to "out" every con man who tries to do this type of thing... which would be an endless ongoing battle...
or...
you could get rid of the incentive to do it by making it more work than than what you could get back.. just by say, using pens or ink instead of pencils so that people have a harder time "hiding" things like this... another possibility would be for Topps to release an actual checklist....
either way... it's a one time change...

Artists don't get paid very well. Topps controls their part of that; artists aren't going to do more for the same pay. Topps will replace artists for those willing to work cheaper as it is. Not an artist problem. It's an industry problem and in this case, it's a Topps problem.

Hey man, you go stand on your soap box and criticize artists for fulfilling their contracts satisfactory to the company that is paying them, like many before you have. Preach brother! If that is the guy you want to be, don't let me stop you.

Me, I say Topps got what they paid for. Topps agreed, or they wouldn't approve the cards and pack them out. But you keep blaming the artists...

what i'm talking about is solely about ways to "solve" the problem in the future.

One small step taken to control this in the future is Topps has recently asked artists to sign and print their name on the card backs(whether they do it or not is on them) Besides helping identify artists, it could protect buyers from potential "sketch scammers" from using the scribble name "unidentified artist" excuse.

Thank you for saving the post I was beginning to type out.

Anybody could paint something else over a Glebe or Pence fully-rendered piece as well, so "simple pencil sketches" are not the problem.
