Going the Masterwork/Survival Box route with all the same signers as the last 3 releases? And still no Eleventh Doctor or Amy Pond autos?

Looks like it. Last 4, really, if you count the Widevision set.

All the major autos were extremely short-printed in Extraterrestrial Encounters, too. I'm not sure any of the Doctors' individual autos have been hit yet. Only the Coleman 1/1 has shown up, and it's probable that Piper, Corden, Gatiss, etc. only had 1/1 and #/5 autos.

Expect long odds on a good auto in the upcoming set, unless something changes, even at 1/pack. That is if anyone even orders it. I can't imagine many people were making money breaking Extraterrestrial Encounters.

Debating on a case... but at $669 a case, with as tough as it was to pull a Doctor or Companion in EE... I don't know...

Thoughts?

I'd consider the following:

(1) Which cards would I ideally like to hit in my case?

(2) How many of them would $669 buy?

(3) How much is the experience of opening the case worth to me?

Just going through some recent auctions for Doctors, Companions, other major characters:

Jenna Coleman $250 (Timeless #/25)
Tom Baker $220 (Timeless #/10)
David Tennant $200 (2015 #/25)
Billie Piper $190 (2015 #/25)
Arthur Darvill $150 (Timeless #/10)
Derek Jacobi $110 (2015 #/25)
Peter Davison $100 (2015 #/25)
Ingrid Oliver $100 (ET Enc #/5)
Alex Kingston $76 (2015 #/25)
Colin Baker $55 (2015 #/25)
Freema Agyeman $51 (2015 #/25)
Sylvester McCoy $58 (Timeless #/25)
Paul McGann $46 (2015 #/25)
John Barrowman $33 (2015 #/25)

There will probably be a premium for cards from the new set for a week or two, but you will probably be able to get a lot of Doctor or Companion cards for less than the cost of a case...

It's strange that they haven't gotten Karen yet considering she signed for both Guardians sets, is it possible she's contracted to only sign for Upper Deck?

I actually wanted to go for a set--- I'm nearing finishing up a adjusted master set of the 2015 (Everything but the autos and 1/1s) so all Reds, Blues, Purples, Base, Inserts, Tardis logos, Tardis Gold logos, patches, etc... need less than 10 cards to finish that up.

Need a new project to take me a few years...

Think case prices will drop for this like Extraterrestrial Encounters and Timeless?

FYI

https://www.topps.com/blog/john-hurt...nature-series/

The way that reads, it makes it sound like the autographs were already in the product but they had to remove them. Or, it could be he never signed before he passed away. Would love if Topps would clarify.

I would guess there were redemptions that they had to remove.

That makes sense. Wish they would have worded it that way if that's the case. Did he sign for any of the DW sets? I thought he did for the last one.

John Hurt was in both Timeless and Extraterrestrial Encounters. I'd be surprised if this new set required Topps to actually source any more signatures from anyone. It looks to me like a way to get rid of remaining stickers. Maybe they discovered they ran out of his stickers, or maybe there's some permissions thing they couldn't do after he passed.

Despite my pessimism on Topps DW sets, I'm actually kind of looking forward to this one. One curiosity is that the sell sheets don't appear to mention anything about parallels. If it really just is a base set and auto cards, it will be an easy set of wants for me - 2 base cards and a Coleman auto. I was also happy to see Capaldi autos in the upcoming Leaf Pop Century set.

Thanks, I thought he was in at least one, and I'd be stunned if they didn't have stickers lying around but who knows, could be lots of things. I've been pretty lackluster on the DW sets, even though I'm a big DW fan. I feel like EE has been the best so far, intereting inserts, plus an auto per box. I did love the 10th WV set, and wish I had snagged more than one box. I feel like this set could be a sleeper. I do wonder if the cut autos from the first set are still out there. I thought I remember seeing Troughton pulled.

I hate Leaf, but Pop Century has me intrigued. I'm shocked they got Capaldi before Topps. Missing him and Matt Smith in Timeless really sticks out.

I sold my Ingrid Oliver red /10 auto from Timeless for somewhere between $220-$250 if I recall 2-3 months after release.

My video of case 4/12.

I opened and filmed them all, gotta say it ended on a high note with box 12.

If you manage to pull a purple parallel of #99 (Zygon Invasion), I've got $15 with your name on it.

We're at a week to go before this release, right? I still haven't seen an actual picture of one of the finalized cards yet, and there's still no information about the existence of parallels (base or auto). Surely we'll see something soon...

This next set, I do need to see some autos. I don't like how the 10th doctor sets look.

I gotta look but I am pretty sure I saw no Zygon Invasion parallels, but then again I didn't look at parallels too closely.

I posted case 5 today.

I thought this was pretty cool, got this at the very end.

Apparently Timeless is heavy with Printing Plates but for Extra. Encounters they dropped that.

Bought 3 boxes... wondering how many of the key doctors and companions will be limited like in past releases with just tons and tons of bottom of the barrel signers... hopefully I'll have a feel for it by next weekend. If they don't short print any of the autos, I'll go for a set... hoping they do numbered colored parallels of the base. Only need a handful of red parallel cards to complete my 2015 set :-)

The first cards from this series are up on ebay. Some notes:

Base autos and base cards are both blue-bordered and unnumbered. Parallels are the same for both base and autos:

Green #/50
Gold #/25
Purple #/10
Red #/5

Presumably there are 1/1 cards too, but none have come up yet.

Based on auctions so far, autos don't seem to be too short-printed compared to previous sets. Billie Piper is at least through #/25. Freema Agyema, Alex Kingston, and Derek Jacobi are at least through #/50. The only Doctor card that seems to have shown up so far is a Paul McGann #/5.

I ordered a box. Watched one guy on Youtube open some. Looks about like I expected. Still, for about $100 I don't think it's the worst thing ever. I go to conventions and get autos, I basically look at this at a way to get some signatures that will not likely be in my area without the travel and entry fee.

I've been lukcy so far about not getting doubles, but that luck has to change soon.

I hit a 1/1 Deborah Watling & it has a gold border. I had put it in with the other gold autos until I looked at the back & #'1/1.

I looked at a pack and I want to say there is a yellow parallel. So the yellow might be /25 and gold 1/1.
I don't have it in front of me right now.

Yup, just looked a pack with odds. Yellow parallels are 1:6 & golds are 1:135 (base cards) & gold autographs 1:151, which have to be the 1/1s.

thanks for pointing that out.

I bought 4 boxes and had them opened live.

I hit an Alex Kingston /25

and

Jenna Colman
Ingrid Oliver
Jemma Redgrave
Triple Auto /5

I should have them in hand Monday when I get back from vacation. I'll put some scans up then.
