Default What are some of the Great READS in Comic Book?

I just recently got into collecting comics, and reading them, and have been enjoying it quite a bit!

Right now I'm keeping up with DC Rebirth's Harley Quinn, Suicide Squad, and Deathstroke. I've also been picking up and reading Thanos, and just finished Deadpool Back in Black (just to give an idea on what I've been reading)

What are some recommendations for storylines to follow, or good places to pick up on?

You should try Black Hammer, Southern Bastards, Squirrel Girl, and Shade the Changing Girl.

Bloodshot (Reborn through Bloodshot U.S.A.)
Seven to Eternity
Superman (Rebirth)
All Star Batman
Batman (Snyder's run and the new run by King)
The Fix
Ninjak
Brittania
Savage
Saga
East of West
Black Monday Murders (plays with the format of a comic very well)
Mother Panic

Agreed that Sandman is a classic. Some people start off in the super power comics and then discover other veins that they enjoy. If you are looking for just supers, I would also recommend a few classics (to me):

Watchmen
Starman
Planetary
The Authority (Ellis & Hitch run)
JLA (Grant Morrison run)

I could go on...

Alan Moore's "Swamp Thing" (issues 20-64 in the late 1980's)
Alan Moore's entire "America's Best Comics" line from the 2000's
(Tom Strong, Tomorrow Stories, Top 10, Promethea)

Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's "Preacher" (1-66 + 9 specials)
and "Hellblazer" (41-83)

TPB, hardback, and even a prose novel adaptation of it for those who like words without pictures...

I try not to recommend it without knowing the persons sensibilities. When I was employed by B&N i had regulars that I hand sold books too and some came back not happy about the book at all

I recall really liking Daredevil: Born Again when I first read it. I actually need to go back and re-read it. Actually most (not all) of Frank Miller is worth reading at some point.

Also, as someone mentioned above, Alan Moore's Saga of Swamp Thing is excellent.

Can anyone point me to the Sandman series mentioned above? I did some searching but I'm not sure which Sandman is the correct one. Thank you!

You'll want the run published by Vertigo (DC Comics imprint) by Neil Gaiman - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sandman_(Vertigo)

I finally ordered the Thieves & Kings TPBs I was missing to catch up on the story in case Mark Oakley ever gets back to it. I was collecting up until the mid 30-something issues, but then just got out of comics for financial reasons. That was one series I really missed and really enjoyed at the time.
