My thoughts exactly - the whole point is the guy was bored stiff, and longed for adventure ... no way can you show an exciting, action-packed backstory IMHO.

It's a prequel type thingy with Emilia Clarke (game of thrones) in it. My guess is she'll be the next hot autograph to chase.

She signed her contract before the final Rogue One story was completed and based on the reshoots, it's hard to tell if the studio had even decided which main characters may die or not...

Even if they held her to a 2 film commitment, I don't think they'll force something that doesn't work, i.e. Han Solo prequel...

My guess is there will be a cameo or a flashback type of seen at best in one of the future movies...

But the concept is not that far fetched...or forced. Remember when Jyn was in an Imperial Prison cell? Wasn't that for forging imperial documents or something like that? It was not explained in depth, but "theoretically" she could have forged documents for the purpose of smuggling. Han Solo was a smuggler.

that contract was made before the reshoots and changes to the original ending of Rogue One, so yes. She's really dead.

Why Felicity Jones Has a ?Rogue One? Sequel in Her Contract

Just a story giving some context.
