The Dems nominate the worst candidate since Michael Stanley Dukakis and will win in a landslide.

Wow.

-He should have BLASTED her on her trying to connect Russia to Wikileaks
-He should have BLASTED her on the no-fly zone she'd like to enact over Syria

I kept waiting for something, anything from him. The above issues are things that most left-leaning people are staunchly against. Donald Trump should have kept hammering those. He chose to appeal to the conservative base that would never vote for Hillary anyway instead of appealing to those with a more liberal bent and hammering the issues that most Democrats do not stand in support with her on.

I would have thought Donald to be more prepared. He had to have known the Wikileaks/Russia was going to be brought up. I kept waiting for him to say something along the lines of : "The same intelligent agencies that swore that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction are now saying that Russia hacked and gave Wikileaks the thousands upon thousand Podesta emails? There wasn't proof of WMD's and there's no proof Russia is behind the leaks. If there is proof please lay it out right now in front of the American people, and I will get behind you and stand against Russia. Making these unfounded claims is eerily similar to what happened prior to the Iraq war. This game of political chicken with Russia is very dangerous and not the direction we need to go in. The American people are sick of being lied to and sick of unjust wars based on unfounded claims."

That would have resonated with the left. That would have resonated with the Bernie supporters. He could have said anything similar on a myriad of Hillary Clinton issues, but he just never did.

The best "line" of the debate is below. I think this was the best thing said during the entire election cycle from either candidate. This was the knockout blow to the entire Trump campaign. Trump had many opportunities to make a similar speech over the past few months, it just never happened.

"But I think it's really an important issue. He raised the 30 years of experience, so let me just talk briefly about that. You know, back in the 1970s, I worked for the Children's Defense Fund. And I was taking on discrimination against African-American kids in schools. He was getting sued by the Justice Department for racial discrimination in his apartment buildings.

In the 1980s, I was working to reform the schools in Arkansas. He was borrowing $14 million from his father to start his businesses. In the 1990s, I went to Beijing and I said women's rights are human rights. He insulted a former Miss Universe, Alicia Machado, called her an eating machine.
And on the day when I was in the Situation Room, monitoring the raid that brought Osama bin Laden to justice, he was hosting the "Celebrity Apprentice."
So I'm happy to compare my 30 years of experience, what I've done for this country, trying to help in every way I could, especially kids and families get ahead and stay ahead, with your 30 years, and I'll let the American people make that decision."

A half-decent rebuttle could have been:

"So in 1990 you were in China claiming women's rights are human rights, to which I agree, yet in 2016 you will take funds through the Clinton foundation from countries that treat them as second class citizens, so does that lead us to believe you have changed your stance on womens rights being humans rights? Furthermore, was the situation room you were in during the Bin Laden raid the same situation room you were not in during the attack on Benghazi when aid had been requested prior to the attack, or does that "still not matter at this point" (this quote would just be a subtle jab even though I believe it was her response to a nit picky fact, if I remember)". As another poster said, he missed opportunities to nail her even further on certain issues.

We wont have to worry about shutting this down shortly after the election, Trump is going to try to file lawsuit after lawsuit alleging voter fraud no matter how bad he gets beat.

Alright, this election is all but over. Looks like Hillary Clinton will be our next president.

The big question is: will the conservative minority actually get to work helping to make our country great again or will we be looking at another 4 to 8 of laziness/obstructionism/entitlement/rancor/paranoia under the guise of "fighting liberals"?

Not saying all conservatives are like this. But come on, we've seen how these last 8 years have been. The partisanship has to stop.

I mean, from a historian's perspective, this Tea Party/GOP congress has been historically bad. I'm talking 1860-level divisiveness and unproductiveness.

Here's something I found interesting. Every site I've seen so far has Hillary winning last night. A CNN headline says Clinton won according to their poll.
But, when I read down the article I saw this:

"Still, most said their minds weren't changed by tonight's debate, 54% of those who watched said it would have no effect on their vote, and those who did feel swayed were about evenly split between Trump (23%) and Clinton (22%)."

So the poll is showing that Trump actually had a 1% advantage in bringing votes to his side. To me, that makes him the winner.

You will see more of the same. Each person has to do what they can to keep their seat and many are in deeply conservative areas. Nothing will really change until there is drastic change in leadership on both sides.

At some point though the GOP is going to have to realize their platform is not helpful in winning a National Election. Women and Minorities will continue to grow while their base literally dies off.

Right now Trump is missing a decent percentage of the republican base (some polls say only 80% repub support). I believe he planned his tone and answers to try and get them back. His answers about the 2nd amend, SCOTUS, and pro-life stance probably helped him in that area, along with being more even tempered. Trump has a pretty big base already but needs more than 80% of republicans to vote for him if he is going to win. The 2nd debate is when he hit her with everything he had and it revved up his base and others who don't like Hillary on all sides.

The thing you need to remember is that a large part of the voting public knows so little compared to just some of the people who even read a thread like this. That is why I pointed out last night that it helps Trump more than we know when he calmly hits her on the Clinton Foundation and pay for play stuff, because a decent percentage of voters literally haven't heard it before last night and started reading into it right away.

I strongly believe Trump will win, as of now, based on how silent many of his supporters/voters have to be because of the backlash many get from others who are intolerant of him. With 2.5 weeks left and a lot of time for more bombshells to drop about either candidate, really anyone could win at this point.

It won't though. Partisanship is becoming ingrained into the American fabric. It's years of "us vs them" conditioning. There is a complete inability for people to remove their rose colored glasses to look around to see the piles of filth and disgrace in their own party. The only thing that matters is exposing why "they" are bad; where "they" is anyone that doesn't completely fall in lockstep with the party. Fall out of step, and the owners of the country will find some other rube to take your place during the next primary.

Yes to the highest power.

"Us vs Them"? I honestly don't get this, why would American work against each other? Why? We're idiots, that's why. You can always tell a hardcore Dem or Rep by asking them about something negative that their candidate did they will respond with "yeah, but so and so did this or voted for this or supported that", blah, blah, blah, they just point the finger in the other direction. I don't think anything will change until the younger generation gets in, as much as people come them generation cupcake, they are more open minded, IMO, and may not be entrenched in beliefs, ideas, and stance stuck in the 80's or 90's.

I'll wait until the votes have been cast and verified before declaring anyone the winner.

Do not believe any polls. All of our media is designed to publish their ideology not necessarily truth.

I think one of the most damning examples of partisanship in this country is the fact that both TRUMP and SANDERS supporters have been ranting about a "rigged" system.....

.....yet they'll never be able to unite to actually do something about it.

(My take: If you want to take on a slanted and rigged system, do it during the three years between election or during the primaries. Contesting the system up to and on Election Day is where civil unrest and violence comes from.)

By the Numbers: Voter Fraud - PBS

Let's break it down:

Percentage (link is external) of Americans who think that the election could be “stolen” from Trump: 41% (73% of Republicans and 17% of Democrats)

Number of voter fraud cases (link is external) since 2000: 44 cases out of 1 billion votes cast (8 of which involve more than one ballot affected)

Rate of voter fraud: 0.0000044%

Number of states with active voter ID laws: 32

Number of laws passed to tighten voting laws (link is external) since 2001: Over 1,000

2012 voter turnout: 129,085,403

Approximate number of 2012 voter fraud (link is external) cases: 4

Projected number of 2016 voter fraud cases based on 2012 turnout: 4

Your odds of getting struck by lightning (twice!) (link is external) are more likely than election fraud at: 1 in 9 million

And you’re much more likely to win an Olympic gold medal (link is external), with odds of: 1 in 662,000

It's been pointed out many times that the polls had Trump down many times in the beginning of the primaries, and it wasn't until he started winning states later on that the polls changed for him.

At some point the country will figure out (or just happen to get extremely lucky) and will elect a President that can negotiate on both sides of the aisle, bring the parties together and crush partisanship. It will happen and it will happen in my lifetime - I just hope it's sooner rather than later.

With all of the obstructionist - partisan garbage that goes on on both side, currently we can look back in jealousy at the Do Nothing Congress of the late 40s and wish that our current leaders could be that productive.

There are many, many different types of voter fraud. The MSM will try and focus on the in person fraud on election day that is hard to do or prove. Having dead people registered and thousands of people that register in multiple states is where people can fraudulently sway an election.

"Back in 2004, the New York Daily News found 46,000 New Yorkers were registered to vote in New York and Florida, and 400–1,000 registered voters voted twice in at least one election. Slate gathered other investigations back in 2004 as well: “The Orlando Sentinel found that 68,000 Florida voters are also registered in Georgia or North Carolina (the only two states it checked), 1,650 of whom voted twice in 2000 or 2002. The Kansas City Star discovered 300 “potential” cases of individual voter fraud, including Kansans voting in Missouri and St. Louisans voting in both the city and the surrounding suburbs.”
