My love for this country is strong. I believe in President Obama's vision more than anyone before him. He and Bernie, in my humble opinion, actually care about the American people. My beliefs are well documented in this thread with evidence backing it up.

I believe the media age we live in has propelled us into a more racially intense society. For example, just on this message board, there are a number of posters who spew hate targeted at multiple races, religions, etc. Many of those messages are deleted pretty quick due to the mods being on top of things (feel free to confirm, mods). It is very easy to get an edited piece of the story and making it one-sided. Many times, the police are involved. You may catch the tail end of a police beating which makes an officer looks bad. The other guy had a knife but was edited out. On the other hand, someone taking a beating and fighting back due to an officer stomping in his head. All can be edited.

The Seaside bomb was aimed at a Marine benefit run. The NYC one was near an armory.

Really, he cares about the American people, cool story. If he cares so much why does he allow so many "refugees" into this country who eat up more of our tax dollars and national debt that could be used on our American homeless or needy? What has he done for the American People in his home town that is a war zone? Why won't he call a Muslim Terrorist who executes an act of terrorism on American soil killing American people a Muslim Terrorist? I could go on but I know you are deaf and blind to his wrong doings of the American people.

I do great work in my career. There is only so much I can do as an educator when there is a lack of commitment coming from home. Six, seven hours of school a day gets unraveled in the streets. My colleagues and I saved a few but lost many more.

Education, in some parts of the country, is a disaster. Wasn't it Texas or Georgia (I do not recall) that wanted to change science textbooks towards a religious persuasion?

It does concern me. Unfortunately, these kinds of events happen. Hell, the Europeans started this terrorism back in 1492. Then, the Europeans raided parts of Africa and cut deals with some of the leaders to bring over slaves. In more recent times, Japan bombing Pearl Harbor, World Trade Center in 93, to the bombing of OKC, don't forget about the Olympics in 96. 1999 USS Cole was another target (even if it was off shore) as well as the embassy bombings in 98. Who can forget 9-11? Memories burned in my head. My father was in that area. I was a 21 year old man and cried because I was scared for him and the loss of life and destruction. We can go on and on....but yes....life goes on. I will not live in fear but will be vigilant.

You forgot "bro" when you mentioned cool story. He allows refugees in because he knows what America stands for; Liberty. I honestly do not agree with our President on this because I think the vetting process should be more intense. However; people who legally in this country, work, and pay taxes should be able to stay. If one is crossing illegally, that person needs to be deported. That is where I differ with our President.

I forgot to ask and I am being serious. Is there data and research on this to support your claim? The 50s and 60s were pretty racially charged. I am happy that blacks stood up for themselves and protested peacefully until the water cannons were shot at them. It's unfortunate that there is rioting and looting in today's time when there is an issue with the police. Peaceful protest will get you farther than the looting/rioting.

I always ask myself, if we [society] had the technology that we do today back then, would this have all happened? Imagine the murderers of Emmit Till, filming their heinous act and leaked it on Facebook? Do you think racial tensions would have been even worse? How about if someone filmed Rosa Parks on the bus?

Just because we don't see it, doesn't make it not happen. I am happy police officers have body cameras these days. The unedited film does not lie. Keeps police honest. Keeps civilians honest.

My wife's very conservative friend needs to donate 10k a year to her church so her kids can go to school there. Stuff like that happens on both sides, I'm sure.

Then she says "Yes, I was briefed about the NJ and NYC bombings".
