Postscript: The forged Jeter Peter Max auto just sold for $366 and the Griffey brought $309. Despite myself and two other people I know of contacting them, eBay did not pull the items.

In a way I can't blame tntnorthnj because there are no repercussions for selling fraudulent items from consignors on eBay. Turning a blind eye or pleading ignorance is very profitable in this hobby; truly discouraging.

I have bought hundreds of cards from tntnorth. The only problem I had was with my first one where I bought multiple cards and he failed to put enough postage on the package and I had to pay for it at the post office. I left a negative for that, but continued to buy from him and have never had another problem. Granted, al of the cards I bought were base cards or parallels.

He had a bunch of "Pastime Collection" autographs that ended last night, they all looked suspect, to say the least

Also, most importantly, these autos on these cards are forged (Mays signed his "s" in like the letter "r" in 1997, not the loop that these cards exhibit). Most likely these were proofs cut from sheets and then the signatures were forged.

Worthpoint examples of authentic 1997 Topps Willie Mays certified autos

Whether or not he is "in" on the forgery operation or is profiting off a criminal consignor is moot; he has a pattern of deviant activity.
I'm bumping this up as I am seeing more and more of these fake 1997 Mays autos floating around (there is also a member here who has one but I'm sure doesn't realize it). So people are aware, specifically for the 1997 if the auto is sliding up from left to right and there looks to be a triangle in the beginning of the name, it is fake. Here is what the fake ones look like:

These look almost exactly like the GFA "certified" autos floating around on eBay usually coming out of Florida.

Here is an actual 1997 Reprint:

Just wanted to share, rule of thumb on Mays autos is that if the first letter looks like a 4 being crossed back is to stay away.

You are correct, COEFOR, these Mays fakes did indeed originate in Florida. The fakes are confined, as far as I've researched, to the 1964 Mays reprints. Notice that tntnorthnj sells a new one every week at close to $150 a pop.

I'm quite sure the consignor of these is an eBay seller named rare_cards. You can view all his completed fakes here. I'm not sure if he is the creator or distributor of the Mays and the "Pastime Collection" fakes, but he is a major player in this Florida fraud ring. Since Probstein and PWCC wouldn't touch this crap, whammo, a B-list consignor like tntnorthnj is used. One, I might note, who neither asks or answers questions.

I believe there are plenty of threads here showing fakes that Probstein sells...

I have bought from this seller many of times, mostly topps chrome as he always has a bunch listed, I am pretty sure he consigns many of his items, I personally do not think he is altering or forging any autos.

They do act. But only if there is a law in place and they can easily identify, then they enforce. I sell a few items on ebay. I have someone watching my account. I must get a email/call about every other month about items I list that I can't. Received a 1 day suspension the other day. First time ever for me.

Few of my "bad" items I've tried to sell and got caught.

Vintage Lane Cedar Chest- Needs to have safety mechanism inside for kids.
Vintage Corning Ware Coffee Pot- Recall- Can only sell in parts, not with cord.
Retired Law Enforcement Badges- Up to them if they are the required 45 years old or not.
Security Guard uniform- Can sell the shirt or patches but not patches on shirt.
Billy Club- Yeah, my bad.
empty M16 clip- CA laws
Vintage Nam Air Force Pilot Knife- Has spring blade.

For cards, I see how they cannot be a expert on everything but they could hire some collectors. I know a guy who works for ebay authenticating porcelain freeway shield signs. Don't see why they don't get a team together for cards.
