They, no. I'm sure the Mexican president made a statement that his country would not pay for the wall, but Trump likely said nothing.

just as people think it is ridiculous for a white person to comment on what life is like for a black person, I think it is equally ridiculous for someone who doesn't live in a border state to comment on illegal immigration

I hope all the people that selected neither or don't plan to vote realize that is essentially a vote for Hillary.

You do realize that there are illegal immigrants in every state of the union not just border states although I agree that they are affected the most. Why is it ridiculous for anyone to comment on anything if they are educated and well informed on the subject? If they aren't, their ingnorance is exposed for all to see. Imo it's ridiculous for anyone to say that a person can only speak about their race or immediate living area. That will never lead to positive and meaningful change imo.

Not trying to be disrespectful by asking this but how can you trust a party who clearly got caught rigging the democratic race and whizzing on a good majority of its people (Bernie supporters). Let me be clear I don't really stand for much that Bernie does myself except for the fact that he was willing to call out the obvious corruption in our leaders (both dems and repubs) . But if they will screw over their own party what makes you think they will do anything different to the rest of the country?

Before you answer with I trust them more than republicans I fully believe the majority of them are more than willing to screw us to, but I just can't understand people still wanting to put up with such open backstabbing of their own people.

The cost of illegals to the United States citizens is over $100 BILLION. I'm an American citizen, so I'll comment.

I do get what you are saying though. Your day to day life is impacted more than mine in Ohio by illegals. I've read the terrible crime numbers committed by illegals in border states.

i can read and educate myself on what black people go through in this country but that will never equal knowing what it is like.

Just because someone is educated and their state has a few illegal immigrants, doesn't mean they know what it is like to live in the midst of hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants.

I should not have said that they shouldn't comment. i should have said they shouldn't comment as though they understand first hand.

Hillary was invited to go to Mexico as well. Why didn't she go? Is she still sick?

This is kind of where if Trump is elected I think he might go with paying for the wall. I think if illegals are deported the money we will save in paying benefits for illegals will build the wall then he can say technically they are paying for it. I'm not saying he will be right, just throwing it out there.

What are the benefits to the United States, as a country, in having illegal immigrants stay in the United States?

Trump is one of the few in the GOP reaching out to minority voters and is projected to crush the % the last 2 GOP nominees got as far as minority voters. Go vote Hillary and see how great things turn out.

Trump seems kind and very sweet when he had his meeting yesterday with Mexico.

Regarding the individuals in this country who believe illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in the United States, I'm curious as to what benefit(s) there are. Facts, statistics, etc...are certainly welcome. I'm attempting to discover why these individuals believe illegality should be rewarded.

Just as every black person or person on the border shouldn't speak for all blacks or people living in border states, but that is the state of most of our media.

I live in Florida, a state with hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants. Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, & California aren't the only states affected by hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants putting a huge financial burden on a local, state, and federal level.

There is one immediate up front benefit to illegals in this country. From an economic perspective, they do hold a lot of jobs for American businesses, and while many will say that hurts Americans and keeps American unemployment rate high ... that's not entirely accurate.

It's likely that most of the jobs held by illegals are jobs that American's wouldn't be fighting over to acquire. So if Trump were to simply deport every illegal immigrant tomorrow (something he said he would not do BTW), the Economy would actually suffer. Companies would either have to hire American citizens to fill those jobs, at higher wagers (thus hurting businesses in the short term) or leave them unfilled (again hurting businesses productivity). In both cases, cost of goods goes up and the unemployment rate trickles down.

However, that said, the cost to the US Government as a whole would be reduced considerably. Between health care, legal costs, prison costs etc ... the money not spent to have illegals in this country would likely outweigh the temporary negative impact on the economy.

Well there in lies the rub. Trump is trying to win an election here, so he's doing what he thinks he needs to in order to win. Just as he did in the Republican Primary, he's just beating down his opponents with his rhetoric and words, however he still needs to show respect to other Nations when presented the opportunity ... they're not his "competition".

They want you to believe it's because they have big hearts, when they are just socialists who don't agree that our country has a sovereign right to say who can and cannot come into our country.

I encourage anyone to watch this video and then ask yourself are we really doing the best thing for America and the world with our immigration policies.

I agree with the notion put forth by many that immigrants, both legal and illegal, sometimes perform the jobs that certain Americans do not/will not, oftentimes with little or no complaint. However, that is more of a reflection of a certain subset of the American populace than America as a whole. I'd venture to speculate that there are many Americans that would indeed take the jobs immigrants have, once realizing the plight of not having a job. Not all Americans, certainly.

I just find it odd that these individuals choose to align themselves with people who have broken the law over their own, legal countrymen.

Some would, not all. Not to mention the money these illegals spend in our economy every year for food, utilities, retail, etc. etc. Hillary Clinton said yesterday that there were 16 million illegal immigrants in this country, which has a documented population of about 343M. That would suggest about 1 in 20 in this country are here illegally, so if I snapped my fingers today and these people were not contributing to the economy of the US, it would not be good for anyone.

In a way, it relates to intent. Many Americans attempt to justify illegal immigration by stating that it is to "better the life of the immigrant and/or his/her family". I'm sure that's true in some cases. In my opinion, that is similar to saying something along the line of "He murdered someone, but only for food to feed his family." The intent was to help family/not starve. That doesn't erase the fact that the action was illegal.

I believe a staggered approach to the deportation issue may be worthwhile. I believe we can work to make the immigration process simpler (though not necessarily easier) and enhance screening processes to better vet potential immigrants.

Americans would definitely take those jobs, but not at the wages the companies get away with paying illegals, oftentimes under the table. I say those business are just as guilty of breaking the law as the illegals coming here. How many countries can I as an American just go into and live off the government without documentation? Even many of the countries illegal immigrants come from don't want the people back. What does that say? People can criticize America (Kaepernick) and call us oppressive, but if that's the case then why are millions of people so desperate to get here? Because they have seen time and time again, that people of all races and nationalities have had amazing success in America by working hard and following our laws. When the first action of someone coming here is to break our law, why should they ever have a right to be a US citizen or ever get to vote?
