It's like people didn't even bother to read how they assigned points. Is 10 points too little for a Championship? That we can argue to death. But this poll isn't opinion. It's arithmetic. The logic for assigning point values is what is potentially flawed.

It is fundamentally flawed due to overvaluing votes on the poll. Like I said above, many of these teams are chronically overrated and manage to lose at least one game they had no business losing, yet someone wind up high again after they rattle off more wins, I suspect a lot of the AP voters keep those teams high to justify their earlier votes which skews this data terribly IMO.

It just irritates me when people say "Alabama is clearly better. They have X amount of titles compared to Y amount of titles" when they aren't addressing the actual poll that was run and how the point totals were calculated. If you want to say NC's should be worth 50? Totally valid and that's where the discussion should start. Not just saying "The poll is wrong!" when it's math.

Ohio State is number one in history because in most decades they were either playing for national championships, or they were in the running. Ohio State's worst decade they were still in the polls 55% of the time. They are the most consistent team. |

Interestingly I watched college football live today on ESPN. They said they thought Notre Dame should be number 1.
Its been 80 yrs since Notre Dame last beat Ohio State

I'm thinking Florida should be #1 since they have never lost to Ohio State. But this would upset South Carolina fans since they are in the same situation.

True....2006 was a different story. Florida 41 Ohio State (#1 going into bowls) 14 FTR, I'm not even a Florida fan. I just find it comical that they have ownage over the Buckeyes in football and basketball. |

You need to look into your history. Florida was not even relevant before the 90's. If they would've played the Buckeyes during the Woody Hayes yrs, the Buckeyes would've spanked Florida every time. Theres a good reason why Florida just barely cracked the top 10. Last edited by aliceinpains; 08-03-2016 at 09:54 PM. |

I hate Ohio state, can't stand Ohio. They're good but number 1? Ehh
I hate Michigan , the color blue or yellow. BUT they do have a really good program After what Alabama did to my Spartans last year lol, they've always been good. Legit contender for that #1 Honestly to see Michigan state that high is great (for me as a fan) But this list could be improved

The points assigned could be improved is what you meant to say. The math is pretty accurate.

Ohio State would've destroyed Florida if they played last year. By your silly logic Michigan owns Ohio State. Get a life. Last edited by maineroge; 08-04-2016 at 04:48 PM. |

Uh oh...someone is becoming a wee bit salty! Chill dude, some day Ohio State will get a chance to play the Gators and may just end the 0-fer streak they have going. I wouldn't get all worked up over it.
