Welp, never buying a redemption from COMC again. All three were live when I bought them in April. Now in August and still nothing scanned into site.

I just hope it doesn't become a normal thing.

I have a question about COMC and eBay:

eBay doesn't seem to auto-update with a sale price, so what happens when someone hits the eBay BIN -- Does the seller get credited the full amount (minus fees) or does he only get what he was asking on COMC?

I really wish they would've mentioned the insane pack times these days because an extra three bucks (or six bucks) or whatever it is woulda been chump change.

Date Estimated Actual
Requested 7/10/2016
Shipped 7/15/2016 7/27/2016
Delivered 7/26/2016

eBay and Amazon only show the original asking price. If it sells through them (as of now), COMC takes 20% off the top to pay the company. You will get 80% of the sale price in store credit, even if you're running an 80% off sale and only expect 20%.

I bought something on COMC for the second time on July 24th. No shipping info as of today. Is that normal? The first time I bought from them was a few years ago so I don't remember how long the turnaround was.

It also depends on which shipping service you use.

The standard service use to take like 2-3 days is now taking about 15 to ship, if you paid for one of the upgraded services its a little quicker.

I'm going to bite the bullet and give COMC a serious try. I dabbled there buying ports to resell and did ok but after tracking my ebay sales closer this yearI have decided to try COMC for the rest of this year and see how goes it.

My NET sales on ebay this year come out to 22% in fees. Keep in mind I offer free shipping on ebay so that is a huge part of it. That and I am really working to hard (supposed to be retired with listing, mailing, and all else that goes along with it. So I will sit back and let someone else deal with the headaches.
Sales this year...$27,000
Net this year...18,360

I think I can come out better on fees on COMC especially if instead of cash out I would just buy high $$$ cards and then flip them at shows.

So I closed my ebay store on August 1 and sent in 1,000 cards to COMC and will see how it goes.

Good luck Bill! As a father of two young children, I also value my time more than listing and shipping on ebay and enjoy the COMC service as a time savor.

I work weekends and am not able to attend many shows, so I enjoy the site as if I were at a show. Haggle on a few cards, buy some outright or just window shop while enjoying some rare cards. I'm probably on the COMC site more than any other website for a good seven years now.

Good luck with getting a replacement. I requested a replacement in April, 4 months and 4 followup emails later and here's the latest response.

Christopher Thornton, Aug 2, 13:03 PDT:
Hello again,

I think he's customer service and he's been responding to the emails I send to Staff@comc.com since January.

FYI...I think I can tell you (if it doesn't go again that cease and desist order I got last summer) that COMC doesn't control when the redemption are received by them. All they can do is contact the card manufacturer and ask when they'll be made available. And, if the card manufacturer doesn't send the cards to COMC, then COMC is just left holding the bag...

So I guess the whole "we're a company with serious volume and will be able to negotiate quicker and better deals with the manufacturers" has not turned out like COMC expected.

Who said that? And when?

(I'm not challenging you, I just don't remember that quote. I think it's pretty funny, tbh...)

I thought it was on a blog entry, but I can't seem to find it now. Either I imagined it, or I read it, but I don't normally invent other people's words. Could have been a blog, a post here in this thread?, or a direct email to me from a customer service rep.
I did see the blog post you wrote about not accepting redemptions that weren't guaranteed to produce cards when they first started offering them, but with the Upper Deck college basketball redemptions during the NCAA Basketball Tournament being accepted, that rule didn't stick around very long. 90% of the ones submitted on site were losers.

I know you're good about that kind of thing...if you saw it, I believe you. When I was there, stuff changed on the fly a lot - especially when something new was being implemented and (as usual) some elements on the new feature weren't totally thought thru. Sometimes, we even got around to letting people know about the changes...
