The list is messed up and in fairness all lists are messed up. Law in particular is usually pretty accurate but throws a few of "his guys" in there really high. Hey Kevin Newman, how are you? I literally bought some Newman only because I know he will consistently be high on Law's lists so some people will buy him.

Urias has pitched 36 innings this year and has 44 K and during certain innings has demonstrated top 5 pitcher type arsenal. How is he not top 5, or behind Giolito... or Crawford... or Benintendi?

Mateo at 50 is honestly a joke and yes I have a bunch of Mateo but if you have Rosario at 13 you can't have Mateo at 50. And you definitely can't have guys like Sanchez and Allard and Ortiz over him, it's just a sign he doesn't like Mateo and you'll have to look for him on BA's lists.

Barreto in the top 25 and some other calls are just questionable.

I mean look, it's his opinion, and it's an informed opinion but it's still just an opinion. Maybe some guys get a bump when these lists come out but for the most part it's how these players perform which is why Devers at 7 isn't crazy and Shipley at 30.

Shipley has major league 2 or 3 starter stuff. Swtiching from SS to pitcher in three years and pitching in AAA is solid.

How can anyone who watched Mateo play with the Yankees in the spring and watched Rosario in the Futures Game have Rosario ahead of him? Rosario is going to be a good major league shortstop, but Mateo is going to be a All Star shortstop. There's a huge difference there... (I have stashes of both).

This list stinks like Turner Field during a rain storm.

Same here I have both Mateo and Rosario stuff so it's definitely not a slight on Rosario but there is a major speed difference. Rosario has a slightly better hit tool and arm and that's about it. Speed and power go to Mateo. I wonder if the recent outburst cost him some spots.

On MLB this year Rosario was #69 and Mateo was #26. That is a pretty drastic switch considering Rosario is really having his first good year this year.

Shipley is just an example of a 24 y/o being too high on a list with a lot of great names behind him. I don't think he has #2/3 starter potential personally. Doesn't really strike people out either. But don't know as much about him as he isn't on my radar.

Mateo and Rosario don't have to be constantly grouped/ranked near each other. Rosario has taken a major step up this year with the bat, and Mateo has a taken a step backwards, both with the bat against better competition, and with his makeup. It's not a stretch that Rosario is now the definitive better prospect.

Can't steal 1st and yankees spring training gets hyped every year big time, remember Mariano said Manny Banuelos was the best pitching prospect he's seen, well he's in AA and probably a Loogy at best.

Rosario also is almost as fast a runner BTW and is also younger. Mateo also has hit under .200 for the last 40 games...

You are not alone. Many of the people I read didnt think he was this good. Many think this is somewhat sustainable. He did have 2 very favorable home parks though for hitting.

Verdugo will be the better overall play probably. Nice outfield arm and can run a bit. He will hit for a lot higher average than Bellinger but less power. Bellinger can however really field his position.

I would argue that their power is similar. They are currently playing on the same team, Verdugo is a full year younger than Bellinger and has a higher slugging percentage. Bellinger is the bigger of the two, but I think Verdugo has more room for physical development. Only time will tell, but I think Verdugo will be a star while Bellinger will simply be a serviceable first baseman.

Rosario has forced Luis Guillorme (super slick fielding SS) to second while Mateo is starting to get reps at 2nd because the organization is (I guess) set on Didi at short. Wouldn't that hurt Mateo's stock quite a bit?

Mateo get reps at 2nd since he is playing with avelino, another solid SS prospects.

OK, but shouldn't a highly regarded prospect whose value is weighed due to defensive capability be able to hold down a position? It's going to raise question is all I'm saying.

I don't think it's definitive at all. Mateo hit his first slump of the minors. Rosario is having his first really good season of the minors. Would you feel the same if he struggled the second half and Mateo did what he started the season doing?

The speed comparison between Mateo and Rosario isn't even close. That isn't up for discussion, even Mets fans will tell you Mateo is much faster.

I find this interesting because I think you are right... somehow. I say somehow because every reputable scout will tell you this kid Verdugo is special. But so far he just looks... very good. If his power gets him to 25 HR territory he could be a top 10 guy at some point since he's so young for the level. Bellinger is hitting for better average than I thought which is promising because the power is there and will increase.

Rosario had a fine season last year for being 19 in the FSL and it being his first taste of full-season ball. Last year was basically a mulligan and the year before that was just short-season ball, where he hit well.

Mateo is now a year older and a level below. He's actually hitting about what he did last year, just with way less SB. I think everyone was expecting a jump this year, either to AA or with his stats, and neither has happened so it's easy to see why he's been passed up. As it stands he hits well for a SS, less so if he's moving to 2B, but the profile looks a lot less special than it did a year ago when it looked like he'd be on the fast-track and might be pushing some gaudy SB totals.

Yea I think the SB total being down is a little surprising but nobody really steals in the FSL and he led the league in SBs for 99% of the time until he got suspended..

But that being said Mateo really has stuggled as of late but yet on paper he still has had a great season. .266 but until this slump was hovering at .300, showing a little power and the age between he and Rosario is like a few months so there really is no difference. Rosario just got called up to the Mets a few weeks ago. Mateo was suspended because he was mad he hasn't been called up yet so they really are neck and neck in progress, Mateo will see AA this season. Of course the excitement is down lately but they are both young and in big markets and should be relevant for a long time. How the two are that far apart on this list to me is silly.

Phillips is in Biloxi batting in the .230s and strinking out over 32% of the time.

I dont know any scouts reputable or not. . I wouldnt be surprised if you were both right. I am collecting as if Bellinger will be the star. I love Verdugo's contact rate. He is very athletic. The problem is he tried a leg kick and his swing fell apart. He could make a second adjustment or make the leg kick work and then pow! It is a matter of Verdugo being good or great. In real live honest to goodness baseball, I would take Verdugo. Card wise, chrome is king and chicks dig the long ball. I also like Bellinger's pedigree.

I wish debates like this one happened on here more often. Thank you guys for having a real prospect conversation with me. People get way too butt hurt on here regarding differing opinions.

You can't help but admire the Dodgers right now. In my personal opinion they have the best farm in the game. It's so good we barely even discuss guys like Eddy Martinez and Yadier Alvarez. I think this year will be the Giants last hurrah in the NL West for quite some time. Dodgers will be very tough to beat moving forward.
