Default Thunder looks to trade Westbrook sooner rather than later.

Smart move.

Good idea since he can walk and they get nothing in return.

Hello LA.

Bad news for the Lakers; I honestly think they would be the frontrunners if he walked after the season. Now, if they really want him, they may have to pony up some nice young assets.

Or, they may wait it out and see if Russ would actually be interested, and if he wants to be in LA, hold off and they can still sign him in the offseason, as a FA.

A team would be dumb to trade for him now if he won't sign a long-term deal.

Let's see if they can get a better deal than what Denver got with Melo.

You can have McDermott and Rondo for him, OKC.

this.

I don't think any team gives up a ton of assets to get Russ for 1 year though I do agree with the comments about the Celtics. They do have enough assets I think they would be willing to risk for 1 year of Russ and try and convince him to stay.

Personally, I think it's more likely you see a sign and trade. OKC will get pennies on the dollar at this point, but at least it's something.

Westbrook and Kanter (clear him off the books) for Love and Shumpert. Works for me.

Westbrook/Kyrie/LeBron/Thompson/Kanter

I can get down with that.

Yes I'm kidding. I just put names into the trade machine.

If I am the lakers...I wouldn't part with anyone...think we would be the favorites to land him...Westbrook and Russell with clarkson off the bench ..would be sweet

I think Boston would be a great place for him. Hope he goes there!

I said in the other thread that Boston would be an interesting place for him to go - not because I care about the Celtics - but I do think he'd be a fascinating fit with the young guys.

Thomas/Crowder/Draft Pick for Westbrook? You roll out a starting lineup of Westbrook/Bradley/Brown/Horford/Johnson

That's pretty legit

roberson
kanter
adams for avery bradley brown hortford and johnson lol?
Its the same exact players. I think he wants a big market and to win rings.

Won't win with the Celtics? They will be one of the few teams that have a tiny chance this year. Also, Boston isn't a big market!?

Well he doesn't really have a choice... Now if we're talking signing long term?

Keep in mind Boston could easily have the #1 pick in the Draft next year. Hell they will probably have Top 5 picks in 2017 and 2018 because the Nets are morons.

I don't think the Celtics give up Isaiah Thomas for him. I know I'm in the minority, but I just don't see it. Isaiah Thomas has the ability to play off the ball and Westbrook has the size to defend shooting guards.

Here is what I'm thinking: (haven't looked at the CBA in a long time, but from what I remember they can trade a newly signed draft pick before the season starts. Could be wrong so if I am please correct me, thanks!)

Why for the Thunder: Acquire Smart (6th pick in 2014 Draft) and Brown (#3 in 2016 Draft) as prospects from the Celtics. Acquire Jae Crowder for the leadership presence and an EXTREMELY team friendly contract. I could see the Celtics also giving up the rights to Zicic and Zagorac along with a future first round pick.

I would much rather give up Avery Bradley instead of Crowder, but I think as it is that trade is kind of pushing it with IT not being included in it.

This sucks. All KDs fault for being a girl haha. The last 5-6 years OKC has been my "other" team because of KD and Russ. They were one win away from the Finals and choked. So KD tucks his tail and runs to that team and now OKC is blown up. That team just went from hero to zero.

I get it but there is much more into it than that. Westbrook isnt going to say he will re sign for sure with anyone. He will diminish his own trade value and say hes not resigning with anyone for sure so his team he gets traded to will keep more assets. He needs shooters around him and big guys. I think westbrook is best with a big and being on a team that just outrebounds everyone because he can get so many boards that way. Would love him on the Twolves. And then try and get AD giving up eveything besides KAT. Then with the HUGE cap space the wolves have getting shooters like jj redick who is UFA and another big name. Or Kris Middleton type guy in a trade. You gotta go all out because the warriors will win rings for next 7 years otherwise. On a more realistic note he goes to miami next year as a UFA and brings some free agents with him. In the time between he gets traded to a team for 1 year and leaves, like the celtics.

I know how it works - doesn't change that if they trade him to Boston then it's a Celtics issue to convince him to come back.

It really would be. They would love his hustle in Boston. The issue is they don't really NEED him there. The guard position isn't really their issue. Yea yea yea I know you always try to get the guy 10-10 times but if you have to give up Thomas, Bradley, Brown types you basically get a rental if you are Boston and still need to add players. You would have to do a sign and trade and have a plan to upgrade the front line or you just really stayed a similar team with a superstar upgrade. #2/3 in the East type.

This is sad b/c it'll probably be to top 5 team which will hit OKC hard. Never take success for granted fans
