Default Heyward Down

Made a hell of a play in right center but look like he injured his hip by crashing into the wall. Anyone else see this?

Left elbow ... looked to jam it into the wall so probably out a bit (but didn't look too too bad).

Man that was scary, at first I thought he might've hurt his back or neck. Terrible when someone flys into a wall.

He's about the best defensive player these days though, I couldn't see many other guys making that kind of catch out there. He needs to think more about his long term health though. He smashed into a wall during a spring training game against the Pirates a few seasons back, I remember because it was the first game on local TV that season, and I thought he was hurt bad but he was okay.

Nobody wins when you smash into a wall and miss games. He's still my favorite player today though, just needs to be careful.

That was a crazy catch and crazy crash. Surprised he caught and held onto the ball through it all.

Looks like an oblique or hip injury. At least he was able to walk off under his own power.

It has been a tough first year in Chicago for J-Hey. Baez might be the greatest benefactor if Heyward is out for an extended period.

Looks to me like he misjudged the ball and did a great job of recovering to catch it. I'm not hating, it's just not that impressive of a catch.

Still bitter? At least Matt Carpenter has a .925 OBP.

Get over yourself, you loved him when he was in St. Louis. Cardinals fans are so shady. Love em' when they're with you and hate them when they leave. Or is it 3rd place in the central that's got you down and out?

Every fan base loves someone when they are on your team and dont when they aren't, that's not a St. Louis thing.

Guy is vastly overpaid. Best 200 mil cards never spent.

Hope he is ok

Needs to get his hitting on track
Maybe this will aid in some weird way

Don't want this injury to be an excuse for his dreadful production

Not true at all. I liked Ben Zobrist with the Royals, still like him a lot now. Liked Aoki with the Royals, still like him now. The same thing applies to many other fan bases.

Wut? Okay. It was the most impressive catch I've seen all season so far. He didn't misjudge anything except the distance to the wall, and 9 times out of 10 when they contact the wall the ball comes rolling out of their glove but J-Hey clamped down on it and made the play like a champ.

Hope he gets back soon, historically he's a slow starter but he warms up with the weather and the last few months he should be rolling, then all the "he sux",
"over paid" "Bust" "Cards fan" haters go back in their burrows for the summer and come out again next spring. Been a huge fan of Heyward since he day he got called up and people troll him until about June every summer then it dies down once he warms up.

Great move by the Cardinals. Really working out well for them this year.
