He seems like a scumbag in general, I spent a lot of time on google last night reading random stuff about him. Seems to be scum in all aspects

That said, I could understand because if a player really disappointed you in your personal expectations (Hollywood's), it can become a downer and you just want him off the team.

Hammel was the last pitcher on the mound when the Royals beat the A's in the 2014 WC game. I'll never forget his dejected face as he walked off the mound the split second before I turned off the screen.

Apparently he also was the losing pitcher in the playoff game that eliminated the Cubs this past season. Not surprising that SAF didn't want him. 3.74 ERA and winning record aside... what a losah bum.
