Default Mailday: 1/1 Nameplate finally completed!

I've been fortunate over the past several years to have some really exciting mail days. I've had so much help and been on the receiving end of so much kindness as well. I'm the type of guy who gets excited about any card I don't have, big or small. The value isn't important to me, I just love to check another card off my master list.

Today, I was able to check off a major card on my want list. There's been many mail days that have had me grinning from ear to ear, but I'm not sure I've had one that has felt as good as this one.

I've had 5 of the 6 letters for a few years now. I didn't know I'd ever get the 6th. But after tracking it down in a CWebb collector's pc in Paris, I was finally able to make a deal for the missing card. A huge thank you and shout out to Damien for being willing to give up the card! Such a great guy and a class act to deal with. I'm forever indebted to you, my friend!

Here's a shot of the final card I received today:

and finally, the whole nameplate together! Man it looks so good!

How many other of you player collectors have been fortunate enough to put together a true 1/1 nameplate like this? I know there are some of you out there that have done it. Show them off here, please. And if you're only missing a letter or two, show your progress here as well.

Thanks for the look.

WOW!!! That is amazing! Congrats on finding the last piece. I love how specific they were on the backs of those cards as well.

Nice man, hopefully completing mine doesn't take so long!

I am currently looking to complete 13-14 and 14-15 LOVE nameplate.

So far im missing the letter V for 13-14 nameplate and missing L and E from 14-15.

I tracked down the L in comc, but seller has a crazy BIN of 999.00 and haven't been able to contact him.

tclausen - Indeed. That's perhaps my favorite part. The cards aren't particularly good looking or anything, but knowing exactly where it came from and that it was game worn is pretty awesome.

crime - Thanks, man. It's nice to finally have it.

rodman - Well, luckily you are collecting them as the product was released. I literally started collecting Webber in August of 2010, so I was already 5 years late to the party from the release date of this product. Good luck finishing yours!

Wade - Thanks, man. I can't really describe it. With every card being a 1/1, I felt extremely lucky to have what I had. I honestly didn't know if I'd ever get the last one. I think that's what so crazy about it. To think about each letter being cut from a jersey, inserted into a product, broken up and shipped all over the world, and somehow all making there way back to one collector in Indiana, 10 years later. It just kinda blows my mind.

Holy cow, I would always be afraid one of the letters not being pulled and I would be chasing forever.

It's nice to see a collector finally achieve their goal after years and years of searching for a specific card!

Congrats on the amazing pick up!

hist - No joke, how many cards do most of us need that are still sitting in boxes!? You just never know.

Xavier - Insane amounts of luck and as much internet stalking as I can get away with without being arrested. lol

Lee - Thank you! I've never felt so satisfied from a card before. This one is just too good to be true.

One of the most difficult things to do is to complete a game used nameplate with all 1/1s

Amazing patience!

Fantastic card!

And it's nice to see collectors sharing their interests (C-Webb and whisky I see ) and helping each other.

That would be awesome to find at least one (on 9) Kirilenko.

& hope to have a chance to have the entire Nameplate Nobility set for Paul George

Ugh, I hate when a seller holds a card like that hostage on COMC and there is no way of contacting them. I'm dealing with that hurdle now as well.

Amazing set to piece together OP!

Very nice! You probably completed it because it wasn't public knowledge you were looking for it. It only takes one SOB to derail this kind of project with an unrealistic price.

Matt, that is an amazing accomplishment and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. I am still working on the Flair Letterman of Dajuan Wagner. I have 3 of the 6 letters. I would love to find the other 3. That is my white whale.......

Tristan - Thanks, man! I definitely have the patience for this player collecting game. Sometimes it takes years for some of these cards to surface.

Brian - Thanks a lot, man. Means a lot coming from a Sparty fan. I appreciate it.

Derotter - Thank you! Good luck on your chase!

Aripet - Thanks, man.

Tacoma - Thank you. Good luck getting the seller to come down.

Byron - No doubt. Man, there are some mercenaries in this hobby. I swear they just salivate over people's want list in hopes of finding a card they need so they can gouge them. It's not fun, and I've learned to just hold out. It's hard to do though.

Randy - Thanks, brother. Hopefully you'll complete the Wagner plate some day. I need to come see you soon and make a Binny's run!

This is absolutely amazing, congratulations! I've been doing a Rodney Stuckey nameplate and have 2 of the letters left so it must feel amazing to complete this

Congratulations on completion. It's amazing to me that you were able to complete this set even though you started on it 5 years after release. It seems like it was just meant to be. Did you buy the cards one at a time or were you able to get a good start by picking up a few at once early on in your quest?

Congrats on completing the nameplate.

This exactly is what's happening to me right now. I just decided not to obsess about it and just be patient, if the guy holding the card has no intention of keeping it, eventually will have to let it go for a realistic price, you just have to play the waiting game.
