Default Where does Westbrook rank among the best athletes in NBA history?

I love watching him play.

Some names that come to mind, Westbrook, Lebron, Wilt, Vince Carter, Karl Malone, David Thompson, Dominique, Jordan, Dr. J., Kobe Bryant... probably my objective top 10.

I think pound for pound, spud Webb or mugs mugsy bouges accomplished more with less.

I think Avery Johnson use to brag about benching 500lbs. NBA guys are bad at bench press because of the long arms and less desire for bulk.

Phil Jackson was known for challenging players to full court one-on-one.

I can't think of any basketball players that won medals in other Olympic events. The Dallas Cowboys Bob Hayes won a gold for sprinting and a Super Bowl (only NFL player to do that)

Herschel Walker was a great bobsledder and brought the Cowboys multiple SB victories.

He behind just about every guy on that list. Kobe, Malone and Westbrook are the bottom 3. Connie Hawkins, Clyde Drexler and Darrell Griffith would be above those 3 on my list.

Walker didn't win any SB rings. The Cowboys used him to scam the Vikings out of a bunch of draft picks which they used to build a championship team.

You take two shortest players to make it into NBA and make that statement? Genius

athlete: one who participates in a contest

so many variables to consider. basically his athletic rank would be the same as his player rank because athlete essentially means the same thing as player.

it not possible to measure and therefor very hard to rank.

ranking works for measureable (objective) abilities much better than it does for conceptual (subjective) abilities.

asking who is the best athlete is like asking who is the most handsome

No one mentioned Nate Robinson.

Rip Hamilton would out run everyone.

Rip and Reggie. Those 2 made their careers on essentially being endurance runners with really good shots.

At 6'9" Magic Johnson was one heck of a point guard..I'd put him in the conversation.

I am not sure but I know I would at least have to see him play some other sport in some celebrity type weekend contest before I put him in my Top 10 athletes

This. When watching OKC games i always notice Westbrook tend to only pass for a direct bucket to add to his assist, he does not move the ball for the sake of ball movement. And also, his defense was pretty good up until last season and this, he would always gamble on defense tried to go for the steals. Go read the analysis from daily thunder blog, this is a well-known criticism of Westbrook.

Yes, because of this, I feel like he does not make the best decisions for the benefit of the team.
