So you take a lump sum and they hold back money right?

Is that considered your tax or do they tax your lump sum?

I think if you want the lump sump they take out about 30% of the pot. Factor in another 30% for federal tax.

Sweet so once I win I can spend $30K per day and likely never touch the principal!

But since we are DINKS (dual income no kids, if you are wondering), time to set a 40 year plan to spend it all!

-I give a co-worker a few bucks every month (sporadically) to contribute to his lottery ticket-buying habit. I gave him $5 today, which i think gets me a couple plays on powerball.

something on the news last night said 2500 tickets per minute are being sold. crazy.

I will probably pick up one or two. not many chances in life to spend $2 for an opportunity for $700 million

$60 worth with friends and about $200 worth with my department at work

Only $15 out of pocket though. I may pick up one or two of my own though.

I only bought one card this week for $5 so I may drop $10 as well.
If I win I'm buying the Bryant super and giving it to Kris Bryant for a wedding gift.

Should be at 800 million by now. I'll do 20-40 bucks. If I win I promise to hold some free group breaks.

I'll probably buy $20 worth (also in a group of 15 people from work where we each put $2 into it to get 15 tickets)

At this much money, it's worth a few bucks to give it a shot, why the hell not

I'd say that $2.00 you spent on that penis enlargement information DVD was more of an idiot tax than a lottery ticket...

a few of my co-workers and i all went in together. 22 of us at $10 each. plus we had $8 carried over from the other nights drawing. so 114 chances total. If you hit, keep your eye on the National news for a certain Supermarket in Mass, doing a huge Hiring spree to replace their entire management team.
