I got out of bed, and the first thing I did was check my apartment door to see if a delivery notice was left in case I slept through the buzzer. Nothing was there, so I felt safe. I start doing dishes for like 10 minutes, and then think "Maybe I should check the tracking number just to make sure it's out for delivery today." I check the tracking info, and it tells me "Delivery attempted: Customer not at home." It was time stamped for 4 minutes ago. Sure enough, I look at my apartment door again and there's a delivery notice right on it! If I didn't get those cards, I would have to wait until Monday for the next delivery where I wouldn't be home to receive it again, so I grabbed my coat and run out to my car in a pair of slippers thinking I could track the guy down. Sure enough, I decide to take a right turn out of my building and there's the FedEx truck stopped at a red light! So I chase the guy for 15 minutes before he realizes I'm following him and pulls over on the side of the highway where I'm able to get my cases.

It turns out some idiot in my building taped a note on the door that said "My buzzer doesn't work, please call this number if you're delivering a package." Since this guy DIDN'T PUT HIS APARTMENT NUMBER ON THE NOTE the FedEx driver assumed it was meant for him and called some random guy about my package, and when he didn't pick up he left. That's why my buzzer never rang.

I'll post a break later, one case was significantly better than the other, the highlight of the break being a Billie Piper Tardis patch auto. It was a really fun break, however a manufactured patch/box really sucks. It basically makes the boxes 1 hit/box. Nobody wants manufactured patches. Also, a printing plate as a hit is pretty damn cheap as well. I've never heard of a product before counting a printing plate as a hit. It's a bonus. And even with 2 cases purchased, to this day I've still never pulled a true 1/1 out of a pack before. Plates doesn't count. Was hoping for at least a gold base. I just hope next series they can do a lot better on the hits. Each case has 24 "hits". 12 of those are manufactured patches, 3 of them are Ood Costumes, and 1 is a printing plate. That leaves only 8 "real" hits in my opinion. There needed to be a lot more variety. Even with those criticisms though, there is still a lot of value in the cases.

Default So..

Is this a 1/1 or does it need to be stamped 1/1. Got it in my box. Not sure from the checklist if there are 2 versions of gold foil.

Nevermind: just saw another Rose Tyler exactly like mine on ebay. I think the Beckett checklist is not complete.

Thanks,
Vinny

This is the One you have.... you have the Tardis instead of the regular DW symbol.

Thanks, I saw what the SP was going for on ebay and wondered why. It would be nice to know how SP they really are.

Best Always,

Does not seem like a lot of people are breaking this or if people are they aren't selling. ONE Billie Piper on eBay (and it's a patch auto) and where are all the other Tenant's not /25?

Was hoping to pick up singles but with prices as they are might have to just buy boxes and fingers crossed.

I have a sealed case and 9 boxes that I know only a plate and no autos pulled from the three missing. They will mostly all be hitting eBay but pm me if looking for fillers. Not getting them till Friday though which sucks.

I've seen some nice cases and some horrible. Going to be a long week waiting

My plan was to buy the autographs I want (and there aren't too many - three or four) but I am not dropping $60+ for Neve McIntosh or Catrin Stewart. I will wait and see if prices drop.

Yeah, the prices on EBay are stupid right now. The Moxx of Bahloon autograph is not worth $80, people! The classic companions aren't worth that, given how many of the, do conventions and have signed for other sets. It's crazy seeing how much the autographs for this set are going for but the same actors from the Strictly Ink sets are going for a fraction of the price. The parallel factor for autographs is also inflating the prices too.

I don't know dr who versus what prices should be but just funny that this is one of the first products in awhile people complain too high vs too low

I wonder if there will ever be product that will hit the sweet spot where both buyer and seller are happy.

These are $850-$900 cases that have 24 hits, 16 of which are virtually worthless. If the autos aren't going to bring at least a little coin, then case breakers are going to throw in the towel even sooner than previously predicted.

Also, comparing an auto from a convention to one on a licensed trading card from an official set is the same as comparing a cut signature of mickey mantle on a trading card vs a signature of mickey mantle on an index card - it's apples and oranges.

Did they not do any sketches for this set?

No sketches, I think it really would have helped the set and could have really made this interesting.

I know that's how the market's supposed to work (and how card companies want you to think), but I'll pay only so much of a premium for the same sig in a fancier package. Maybe I'm not alone....

Not sure - my experience is different. Harrison Ford from topps SW products vs Harrison Ford in Cryptozoic Enders Game vs signed Harrison Ford photo - another example with three wildly different prices yet they are all his auto.

If we're talking cards, yeah, I'd pay more for Ford SW than Ford Ender's Game. But I just can't see paying X for a Ford SW 8x10 and 5X for a Ford SW card.

Heresy, I know. I'll show myself out.

Nope, but there are some people that will pay more for a fancy package, some that don't care and everyone in between.

What I don't get is the absolute vitriol that some people spew when a seller sells something at a price someone doesn't agree with. It isn't that prevalent within the non-sports community that I've seen, but some of the sports threads (and some threads in other forums dealing with other collectibles) that get just downright nasty when a seller doesn't sell something for a price that the buyer has declared acceptable.

At the end of the day, sellers item and they can ask for whatever they want and it's the buyer's money so they can spend on what they want and neither is right or wrong.

On another note, wish there were sketches like Crypto's model (1-3 per case.. not the Star Wars model of 10,000 new sketches)

I won't be getting this set or buying any boxes BUT if the following card was available for sale I would seriously consider buying it.....

Triple AUTO - John Barrowman, Eve Myles, & Gareth David-Lloyd

I just happened to love the Torchwood series.

While I agree with you some sellers are downright disgusting in some prices they set - it's nothing but unadulterated greed.

Check out this pre-sale "master set" on sale now that really isn't even a master set because you aren't getting all the autographs!!!

I pity the collector that will actually pay that amount.

That is Kryten. He is a special kinda case.

Having said that, I don't consider it disgusting on the price. Eye roll, shoulder shrugging, face palm sure, but I'll never be disgusted by a price. Would be more disgusted at the use of the term 'Master Set' though as that is rather misleading.

+1.

I don't understand why anyone ever gets riled up due to some seller's prices lol. Perhaps they are a collector who really doesn't want to sell in the first place unless they get "crazy" money for said item.

Let the market dictate what goes for what, and don't worry what they are asking for it.

How can Kryten "guarantee" a dual and triple auto in this set?? Those are ridiculously rare, no??

And that all 31 signers have silver (base) autographs, because I'm thinking quite a few of them don't.
