Opened one box of hobby. Better than last year's release but low bar to cross. Two #'ed cards (/399 and /250), one auto (non-#'ed), one Red & Gold Seismic and a Garnacho Wonderkids Lava. I assume the last two took the place of #'ed parallels if Hobby is supposed to have 3-4 on average.

That last one's the issue - I cannot for the life of me tell if the Garnacho is an Orange or Gold Lava. Have checked eBay and I can't tell any discernable difference between the two. Anyone have an idea? Posting pics in the response.

Pics included here. If anyone can tell the difference between Gold and Orange I'd love to know how (and why someone thought this was a good idea).

#2 def orange but I see you point. I would rather the blue part be the color change

both are of the same card just a lil different angle. I agree though, I think it’s orange. just should not be that difficult to tell.

Was not a fan of the way that SF looked and some people were saying it was a $100k card. Ok...

This makes me laugh.....not many $100K cards even exist in the Soccer card market anymore. I've been dealing in high end soccer for 4 years now and I don't think I would even pay $10K for that card

Yeah, I've noticed this a lot about Haaland though. A lot of cough.. 'collectors' are acting like this is his rookie year. It's his fourth full year for cards. Granted Man City won the Champions League, but the frothing at the mouth I've seen in some breaks has been incredible.

I understand hype, but when you have breakers excitedly putting Donruss /99 and /165's in Pro Touches it's all a bit too much

And Topps was printing the hell out of Bundesliga for the last couple of years so there's never gonna be a shortage of Haaland cards.

randomly looked at Topps marketing email this AM and it says UCL Sapphire will be dropped on Monday (Aug 7th) via the EQL commerce platform. I guess it is supposed to limit each person to a single purchase, or raffle chance.

https://www.topps.com/2023-topps-uefa-champions-league-chrome-sapphire-eql

I wonder what this will drop at?

Unless there are autos this year which is doubtful I see very little value in sapphire as it is certain to be $250+ a box.

Seems similar to the Fanatics “drop” process.

How recent have they been using this? I entered a Fanatics raffle in the late May/early June time frame and I just had to say I was entering the raffle and provided payment info. I am pretty sure it all occurred on the Fanatics site and I did not need to setup an additional account to enter the raffle.

Sorry I don’t understand your question. Fanatics did it on their own site recently for some football exclusives.

Topps does not use the Fanatics process or login. Even though they are owned by Fanatics, the sites seem completely separate. I’ve never participated in an EQL raffle but my comment was it seemed similar feature wise such as enter quantity, payment, and shipment in your raffle “entry”. Then if you win they charge you and if you lose, they don’t.

I thought the way they typically price sapphire is no more than a hobby box? I won't be surprised if others say I am wrong, but that is how I recall it going even recently. For example I am pretty sure that Topps Chrome Tennis Sapphire was less than the price of a regular hobby box of Topps Chrome Tennis. I also recall paying $50 or $60 per for the original 19-20 UCL Sapphire boxes which were also priced that way compared to UCL Chrome hobby boxes.

It was $249 last year but it did not sell very well and they are down to $140ish so I guess it's possible we see around $149 but not likely. I'd be very surprised if it was less than $199. I wouldn't even buy it at $149 with this rookie class though.

This product has gotten so bad that I don’t have enough characters in my saved eBay search to eliminate all of the junk that I don’t want showing up. Lava, bubbles, wave, sapphire, Aoki, Japan, carbon and on and on.

Sapphire £205 GBP, max of three per customer through raffle.

New autos added "Sapphire Creations" or some #@#@#@#@

Considering there's probably well on the way to six figures of RC's for this class I will be giving it a hard pass.

The only card I want in this is the CR7 Real Madrid image variation.

Non-Auto Sapphire Selections 1/10 boxes so autos will be incredibly rare.

At what is likely to be $249 in the US it's a hard pass from me. I wouldn't pay over $149 a box for this. Even that is pushing it.

They just continue to push more singles and the occasional break for me.
