Yes, auto grade are used as a tool by sellers to increase sale price. It may not matter much for superfractors or 1/1 since there is only one card in existence. Here is an example of Acuna's Purple refractor, both PSA 10, however one of them had the auto graded 10 and marketed as pop 1. Its sale price was 30% more than the one with no auto grade. There are some buyers willing to pay extra premium for such cards with both card and auto grade of 10. Again, this may not matter at all to 1/1 or superfractors since the population is one regardless of the auto grade. I was going to buy the Acuna without the auto grade and when I realized that similar cards with auto grade (by PSA) existed, I passed on it. I asked the seller why he/she did not grade the auto as well. Anyways, it does affect the value and may cause an element of doubt in prospective buyers like me. I don't mind paying the extra 20-30% premium to buy the one with an auto grade of 10. I may be one of those odd ones

Of late, what I have noticed with PWCC auction is most of the price movement happens during the first few days of auction and the price does not move as much during the last few day of auction. Lets see how this unfolds!

Yeah, I threw a bid in. My bid is probably not high enough to win though.

I imagine this card goes to $650 - $700. It looks to be in great shape as well.

i will say the soto indy parallel is one of the most attractive 2018 cards produced. i tried to buy one a while back for 400 think it sold a bit higher as my offer was declined.

nevertheless, may i ask a question to those still in the market on these? what is your perceived upside from here on these cards in raw state? $1k, $2k, $10k?? i just dont see how, even if he is performing at mvp level come the break this card goes much higher than these current hammers.

i ask with true curiosity.

This is all speculation imo. If Soto/Acuna continue to perform well the next 8 years (say for example like Trout over the past 8years), my guess is the raw cards in mint condition can easily trade at 10K if not higher! Proof: Look at the current prices of Trout's 2011 TU Hope Diamond/60 and Black border/60. However, this is a huge gamble and based on an assumption that might not pan out.

i want to cross my refractor auto true gem to psa its a 10 auto but i wasn’t gonna bother with the auto grade because it cost more and you can tell just by looking at most autos if they are good

PSA does not charge extra for Auto grade if I am not wrong. For cards with a declared value under $500, both CARD AUTHENTICATION & GRADING AND CARD & AUTOGRAPH DUAL SERVICE are $20. It is $50 for cards with declared value $500-$1999. The fee is much higher for cards with declared value above $2000. For cards less than $2000, I would grade the auto as well and that is my personal preference. The Acuna card was worth less than $2000 and the one with auto grade of 10 (and card grade of 10) sold for $300 more than the one without auto grade even though both cards had a grade of 10

because frankly if i were interested in this card and had the option to pick,
would go with the auto graded one. BUT not because it has an auto grade, rather bc the auto does not go thru his printed name as it does in the other example, seems to have better centering and far superior overall eye-appeal.

basically what im saying is that maybe there are other factors that this particular card sold for more. oh and the most important thing i forgot to mention; auto grades are poop.

buy the card not the holder!

The card with the auto grade sold first. If the PSA grading fee (non bulk orders) for grading card only vs both card and auto (dual service) is the same, why not get the auto graded.
