Is this helmet altered? Mahomes full size auto
 

Almost pulled the trigger on this locally last night and then looked up the certification. It comes back as a Texas tech helmet not a chiefs. Any thoughts? Why wouldn’t you just ask the fellow who is selling it?

I’m Going to say yes.decals look weird , crooked , not placed at the right angle on either side ,

Thanks, agreed. Couple red flags for me (box has the collegiate sticker) (does riddell only do college helmets now?)

Where is the jsa sticker on the helmet? Or did I miss it?

If you don't have a sticker on the helmet jsa didn't verify it

I was just about to say that - I cannot see the sticker

You cannot fake the sticker but it's easy to just put a cert card beside a fake in a picture

Auto looks fake and the helmet looks cheap with the logo off-centre

I'd say OP made the right decision

If you have the time you may want to send this info to JSA - someone is using them to rip people off and I can't imagine they'd be happy with that

What a pathetic effort on that autograph...that alone would keep me away.

Wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole

They're frequently stickered at the bottom, back of the helmet (on the outside). Just ask for a photo of the sticker with the helmet; that cert is a "witness" cert which means JSA was there when it was signed.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was either 1) human error or 2) someone got a TTU helmet done and decided to re-decal it into a Chiefs helmet, which isn't uncommon.

His old signature wasn't that great anyways, but I can't believe he shortened it up even more :doh:

You would think at a paid signing he would want to use the nicer one.

I also agree that it was most likely a decal swap since the Chiefs helmet is more desirable
