Fake Jordan PSA 9
Thought I’d share...
Was standing next to a guy that was working on getting $5700 refunded for a PSA 9 86 Fleer Jordan RC he bought yesterday. He took it to PSA to get it re-slabbed in a new holder. PSA gave him a letter saying it wasn’t authentic. I saw the letter in hand as they were looking at it at the dealer’s table. Guy said he had no idea it looked authentic to him. The dealer assured him they’d “take care of it” and that they wanted to talk to PSA first before issuing the refund. Man this is just scary, the news about the trimming scandals and then seeing this first hand. Kind of downer for me on this trip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Who is the dealer?
|
It was at Dave and Adams Card World

Seems this guy will be getting his money back from Dave and Adams and they will be getting their money back from PSA. |

Correct. Those have been around for years and years. I’ve even seen some suspect looking slabbed Jordan’s for sale on eBay. |
D&A had 2 of them in the display case.
I bought the 2nd one today. Currently in line at PSA. Will let you know the results. I have no doubt D&A will make things right. But here’s to hoping it’s real! |
I am wondering if they were bought before Reed started working for them.
|
I prefer the newest PSA slab style vs. older ones.

I’m willing to bet D&A could tell the difference with a faked slab. |
Need to wait 2 hours.

I have nothing against D&A.
Actually... I've partnered with them for some work in the past & it was great. However, as a buyer... I've had a handful of issues with them. Not disparaging, but there is a reason I am loyal to BO. Hope all parties find a solution in this matter. |
Update. It’s a fake. Slab was tampered with and card was replaced along with the tag.
Got my money back. Devastated. Was my dream card.. saved up a whole year for it. #@♂️ |

Where did D&A say they came from? Not saying they're in on anything shady, but you would expect a large company like that to be able to spot red flags on $5k cards they're buying and selling. Especially cards that are notorious for being faked.

Glad you checked it out today at PSA before the national ended... Might have made it more difficult

It’s $500 deposit and we need to get it verified by PSA before I pay the rest.
I wonder how many vendors who own will agree to that?
The good news is I imagine at that show you can throw a rock in any direction and hit another PSA 9 that’s not fake.
|
Thank you to the OP for being nosy lmaoooo saved me $5700!
|
At least dave and adams has a big enuf backbone to make it right.
Unlike some other shady dealers in todays market. Mike |

A holder that will damage the card as it bangs its edges against the gasket Or yes just post it here and we will tell you. I’d love to see the one you bought originally. |

Your call.
Lol. Not sure if serious. Obviously the money means a lot to him. D&A didn't spot the fake. I'm sure the peace of mind is worth the wait to him. |

I consider myself well-versed in counterfeit Jordan Fleer RCs. There are may others here that likely know much more than me. Just trying to help. I’m just saying, we could point out obvious fakes and save him a bit of time. |

Agreed There is much more specialized knowledge here than just about anywhere |
