Ugh....WORST SHIPPING I'VE SEEN
So I bought a 2014 Prizm Tie Dye Anquan Boldin on ebay. Buyer has free shipping but the card was BIN/BO.
I ended up getting it for $23.50, which I was ok with. I received the card today in a PWE. The card was in a rigid top loader. There was a penny sleeve in the rigid, BUT THE CARD WAS NOT IN THE PENNY SLEEVE! Look, I understand using this practice (albeit putting the card in the penny) for a $.99-3.00 with free shipping. But when a buyer spends $23 for an item, I would think you at least send in a bubble. Maybe I'm wrong here, but definitely frustrated. The back corners have dings and I am sure its because of this. Rant over..... |
the seller was wrong for shipping that way without saying so ahead of time
|
Yea I'd be upset too, Id leave a neutral or consider leaving a negative. Talk to seller and get refund because that's BS

Old pizza box with grease and cheese wrapped with masking tape. |
I would be pissed. Not to mention people that ship a card in a top loader w/o a penny sleeve Blows my mind
|
Return with DC.....and NEG.
Gotta be smart if your gonna sell on eBay. Dont care how you ship but it better be USPS fault not yours! This is definatly not USPS fault. If the card had arrived condition "as described" then only a message with a "you been warned for less mellow cats" and I leave no FB. |
i once got a card i payed $50 for in a brown paper bag folded up and taped. card was 35pt in a 100pt roploader taped over no penny sleeve.
|
Not acceptable.
I send 8 dollar cards in bubbles.. its better than risking a return because the sorting machines mangled it. |
He couldn't afford a piece of tape

As a frequent seller on eBay.....i ship EVERYTHING in penny sleeve, top loader, 4 base cards, team bag, in a bubble envelope. I charge $3 shipping for unlimited auctions.
Its all about caring about the hobby! |
If this wasnt a tie dye that RARELY show up now 3 years later, I would definitely be sending back. I messaged seller, if he doesnt respond within 48 hours, I will just leave negative and move on. If he does and offers a reduced price i will leave just leave neutral. |

I never understood why (most) everyone uses tape to seal toploader. If you just use a piece of plain paper to snugly wrap the toploader, there's no way the card can fall out. It always annoys me how a perfectly good toploader is ruined by tape (that's not blue tape). |
Ok so your going to neg him for shipping pwe when it was free shipping? So a neg for YOU assuming price = bubble mailer? How is that the sellers fault? He shipped for free and went the cheapest route. Thatsbwhen buying a $40 book Nd complaining it was sent media mail not priority.
I just think you guys are all jumping gun and not taking any accountability but then again since when do buyers in the hobby.... |
I bought a BGS graded Carson Wentz 1/1 for $1200 dollars about 3 weeks ago and it was shipped to me in a small priority mail flat rate box all by itself. No bubble wrap or protection, just the BGS case flopping around inside this box. The seller is extremely lucky it didn't break...

I've had worse, bought a lot of like 4 or 5 cards once and they were in top loaders with no sleeves and shipped in a pop tart box barely taped shut.
I opened it so quickly to make sure they weren't damaged I never thought to take a picture of it first, wish I had, it was ridiculous. |

Why? To eliminate the possibility of a blemish for someone thinking my price of $8.99 for Priority Shipping is too high, when it actually costs $8.65 for a 1-2 lb box. The price of shipping is arbitrary. People charge varying prices for shipping from free to as much as $3.99 for cards. And guess what, most people still send in bubble unless its clearly outlined in the description. When auctions outline that it will be PWE it sets the expectation of that risk. When I pay $23.50 for a card, I expect it to be protected. |

I just think you guys are all jumping gun and not taking any accountability but then again since when do buyers in the hobby....
I see both sides to the argument. But putting free shipping isn't an out to go the cheapest route possible. High end auctions offer free shipping to entice more buyers and because at the price point, shipping is tiny. That doesn't mean they should be shipping $1,000+ cards in PWE because they offered free shipping. Theres no rule book for when a PWE/Bubble mailer should be used when it comes to free shipping. But I think its fairly common that any card over $20 is going to be more than just a PWE. And that isn't just for the sellers convenience. The buyer could have easily said he never received it and the seller is out that $23, which is also pretty significant for a card these days. |
I once received a rare vintage card taped directly to a cardboard backing, with scotch tape.
Paper loss on the front. :( |
If I sell on eBay in pwe I state it clearly in the item description. I also put it in a penny sleeve.
|
If I sell on Ebay and use PWE I would include an image of the PWE and say the cards will be ship in here.
|
I once had a $10 card shipped in a taped pennysleeve with post-it notes with my address and stamps taped around the sleeve. No envelope at all, postage right on the card. It was actually in relatively decent condition. Just a dinged corner
|
Who wants a good laugh???? I got a card the other day off of ebay, in a white envelope with no sleeve or toploader!! Worst thing I've ever seen it. Believe or not the card was straight from a pack like condition, BUT
