Sounds interesting. It all depends on price. I'd hope no more than $5/pack .
|
another weekly product that will cause the site to crash
|
What I like about this is that UD rewarded an artist who consistently made a concerted effort to produce quality sketch work.
|
Cmon...easy $10 a pack. Probably more.
|
Priced similar to Topps Star Wars and Baseball living sets? Looks like their version.
|
Those gold autos will be hot!!!
May need to try and pick up some packs just to hit a gold |
Only 999 total packs a week? Immediate sellout.
But maybe I don't know what I'm talking about |
So 52 weeks of buying, but also only 1 in 20 packs have the gold card needed AND you can only buy 3 packs for week? Am I reading that right. Seems like an absolute trading nightmare. 15% chance to get the card you need, and you need 52 of them.
If you could buy 20 packs per week and let's say it was a conservative $4.99 per pack, that's on average a minimum of $5,000 for a set of gold cards needed for a sketch. |
This looks like a marvel masterpiece quality base set. This will sell out quickly. I know I'll be buying. If I hit a gold, it's for trade for whomever is interested.
|

This will cause a delay for those trying to buy more than 3 and thus allow others a chance to buy. Realistically you'll need to be around when it drops for a higher probability of landing 1 pack. Granted this is assuming the price point isn't ridiculous. $5 a pack seems fair to me. |
Another way to look at it...
If it is $5 a pack x 52 = $260 for a set of 52 cards plus the 4 achievements and the signed litho...and you get a chance at a gold auto card. Not bad I guess....depends on the art and the card quality. |

Not bad I guess....depends on the art and the card quality.
Yes, that’s not bad, but I’d be shocked to see it priced that low, I’m expecting in the 10-15 range, which puts it at a pretty expensive cost in the end (don’t forget about still needing to pay to ship it all home too). Even at 10 bucks a pack it’s not all that bad if you just want the set and lithograph (I honestly MIGHT do that, not sure, will depend on the price), but if you’re going for the sketch, it’s going to get VERY expensive to try and hit an auto each week. But in all honesty, if you just want a base set and lithograph, you’re best bet is to prolly wait and buy one for much less than it would cost to build it along the way. It just comes down to if you want a 1 in 20 chance each week at hitting an auto to trade. |
I was thinking $10 it would still be not a bad a deal....but I thought I was in the minority. Anyway as with most things epack....its always cheaper to wait. I wonder if these lithos will be on COMC too? The hildebrandt ones were....but they were much smaller right?
|
Any idea if there will be a way to combine cards for a physical card? I'm not a fan of digital cards otherwise I might jump on this.
Also, can you automate buying these weekly products or do you have to be at your computer or on your phone when each card goes live? |
I think they are all physical...and no...you need to be at your phone or computer when it drops. For the weekly cards didn't a group of people team up to buy up all of some weeks cards so that they had control over anyone else trying to go for achievements? All you need is 300+ accounts.
|
"Each week a new Marvel Unbound pack will be released, spotlighting a different fan-favorite Marvel character."
Does this mean there will only be one character card available every week? If you buy 3 packs, you get the same card three times, with a possible auto variant? |
That is what I took it to mean. Sort of like weekly....that's why there are 52 cards.
|
I love Fred Ian's work, glad they did a set based around his art
|
I like his work too...I also like Firefly. His sig....looks a little like Firefly.
|
This is similar to the changes they made to the Game Dated Moments hockey cards this season. Though not serial numbered, each card was limited to 499 and a gold variant limited to 100 was added as a second card in some packs. You are limited to 5 packs per purchase and the cost is $5.99 per pack. Cards of top rookies sold out nearly instantly and frequently broke the website.
By comparison there are 999 of these cards each week, which is twice as many as the 499 hockey set. The gold autograph parallel falls half as often though, with only 50 compared to the 100 in GDM. And you are limited to buy 3 packs instead of 5, which should allow more people to purchase when they go live. While these will likely sell very quickly, you should have more of a chance to get in compared to some of the hockey releases. |
This will be a fun set. I’m glad they limited to 3 packs per transaction. Last year was 10 packs per transaction and half the print run and sold out in a minute. Venom, Spider-Man, and Spider-Gwen weeks will probably break the site though.
Also there will likely be a ton of hockey guys buying this up to trade for Young Guns. |
No way this is under $10/pk. I'm expecting $15
|
No way this is under $10/pk. I'm expecting $15
It's 1 card per pack with a chance for 2. Marvel Masterpiece was not much more expensive than $15 from what I recall and that was for 3 cards which would be a numbered base, base parallel that are rarer than comparable tier, and a 3rd parallel or insert. My guess would be $6.99 or $7.99, though I'd love $4.99. |
How long has UD had this ePack Shop online?
ePack began in early 2016 with a hockey set and then the Jusko Marvel Masterpieces set was the first Marvel set to hit ePack in late 2016. Unbound is the 3rd year of a Marvel weekly set but in a different format than the last 2 years. |
No way this is under $10/pk. I'm expecting $15
Based on...? I would think $10 or slightly less is about right. |
The big 52 week achievement being limited to 33 people who redeem first will make for a wild final week though. With 50 gold cards each week there will be 17 bag holders. And final week everyone and their grandson on ePack will play to try to get the final week gold ransom. Not sure why they limit it to 33 and not 50 tbh to avoid the heartache scenarios that will likely unfold final week.
Sketch Achievements The first 33 collectors to redeem a complete 52-card Fred Ian Gold Autograph Parallel set will receive one randomly awarded original art Sketch Achievement by artist Fred Ian in one of two sizes: 2.5” x 3.5” or 5” x 7”.***
|

Appreciate it :)! After signing up, I learned you get one free pack/day. That's cool. |
Appreciate it :)!
After signing up, I learned you get one free pack/day. That's cool.
The free pack is a digital base card so nothing too great. Marvel Annual Pack Wars should be starting up soon and that has weekly achievements as well as the chance to get printing plates that are kind of fun... the game itself is kind of a grind though. |
Based on...?
Fred Ian is quite a big name. Wouldn't be surprised if the price tag was around $12-13 ... can't remember how much Weekly packs were though.
Weekly packs in the past were $4.99 each after buying one pack of any other Marvel product. Basically every new set has come out recently with at least a 20-30% markup. I don’t see this being cheaper than $8.99. |
I did Marvel Weekly both years and the first year was the most excruciating grind I have been involved with on epack, and thats saying a lot.
I wasn't going to do the second year, but UD messed up the release and released all weeks in one go, so I was able to sit back and watch the madness. This year may be better, but it is a real PITA and not worth the effort, even knowing Fred Ian did the sketches. My guess - and a relatively conservative guess is that it will cost about $15,000.00 to get a sketch. |

I'm guessing that you could offer Fred Ian $2000 and he'd fly to your house, sketch your significant other in your favorite character's attire. Possibly even make you dinner.
Chase away though. |

Change it to bring you take out? |
Zero interest after the last couple Marvel Weekly shams.
|
I'll be opening one pack a week to do the base set because I love art cards, and I love Ian's style.
Going to be a joke to chase the achievement though, I'll take that money saved and buy a sweet Ian sketch off ebay and save myself the 52 weeks of pain and a couple grand. |
"Four Character Quarterly Achievement cards, each serially numbered to 999, will be made available throughout the first year of Marvel Unbound."
Interesting... |

I find this hard to believe. Your artistic skillset has to extend to other areas. Regardless, have fun watching how quick this sells out each week. |
"...first year of Marvel Unbound."
This is their version of the living set.
|
just worked out that this releases at 2am Tuesday morning for me so looks like I wont be picking any up after all :(
|
This hits today (Monday) at noon Eastern.
|
$11.99 a pack
|
Appears to be sold out. Took about 15 minutes. I had one in my cart and wasn't sure if I wanted to buy. Price is kinda steep.
|
Are the autos hand signed or Marvel Masterpieces gold sig like
|
Bought three hoping to maybe hit an auto but nope.
Next week can one of you purchase one for me as I'll be in the middle of a root canal. I can either trade you one of this week's Ant-Man or just pay you the $11.99 and we do a trade on epack. |
So “Fred Ian” is actually 2 people... Fred and Ian Leroy? Learn something new everyday.

Was tossing the idea of chasing this(to what degree I'm not to sure...), but if I'm made to remember every week to get on there and buy, I might as well give up now :). GL to the people chasing the originals. Even though I don't really do sketches anymore, this one is interesting to me. Likely I'll just wait for a few to hit COMC in a year...save myself the work of doing it and probably a bunch of money. :)! |
I bought a couple that I have available on e-pack. $11 via e-pack transfer pm me if interested

Fred... are you one person or 2? Upper Deck seems to think you are 2 ... Fred AND Ian Leroy? Maybe half your checks went to someone else?

Is there a checklist available to see who's in the set?
|
Is there a checklist available to see who's in the set?
Nope... it looks like we will have to wait week to week to find out. Set will likely be alphabetical by character. |
If anyone did miss the first week, i do have extras, can do trade or PP... feel free to message me. same Id on epack as here.
If anyone needs help going forward. I should be available to get pretty much every week. |
Are there originals or sketches in this product?
|

its a 52 week marathon. 1 new card dropped each week #/999, with a possible chance at a second signed card /50. 4 quarterly reward cards. If you have all 52 base cards you get a lithograph, if you have all 52 signed cards you get a sketch |

And Upper Deck is absolutely right, My friends; Fred and Ian : fred.ian.:cool: I am the one who paints but we design the paintings together. And we both had to sign the contracts. and Ian is my assistant; if I miss a color, brushes, whatever, he runs around the shops while I sit in my working chair.:coffee: |

Week 2 hits today at noon Eastern. With all of the activity for Pack Wars the last four days I think this set sells out even faster than last week. My guess is 8 minutes. Last week was 15 minutes.
|
Black Knight is this week's character...so they skip Black Cat??? WTF.
|
still not sold out. i grabbed 6 packs. no auto.
good luck all also, yeah, very sad on no Black Cat |
Is it confirmed this is going in alphabetical order? Perhaps they release Black Knight strategically since the Teaser Trailer for The Eternals just dropped...

Nice. I hope they let us know every week, honestly I'm just interested in cards for certain characters and would be willing to pick up a few here and there if I know in advance.
|
How long does this usually last before selling out?
|
I have a Black Widow extra (4 actually) $10 via epack transfer. PM me if interested
