Sent from my SM-A546U1 using Tapatalk
For a team that hasn’t had many top picks AND have hit well on bigs, it’s worth the gamble. Maybe he bulks up like Giannis lol |
Imagine if Duncan signed cards
....a triple Admiral/Timmy/Wemby auto would be insane |
It's the same physiological barriers as Zion.
Except Wemby's are vertically, not horizontally. Think once you eclipse the 7'1/7'2 mark, you're just naturally predisposed to more back/foot ailments. Hoping he doesn't befall the same fate. Thinking Porzingis type health long term. Which in all actuality isn't terrible, especially in today's NBA where even healthy stars miss 15-20 per year due to load management. |
We've seen this movie before. His body style does not hold up in the NBA.

Durant is not 7’5. |
Spec bags are back on the menu! Choo-chooooooooooo!

Lebron was the best prospect in my lifetime and you could tell he would be great by the way he was built, his athleticism, his confidence, and the ridiculous amount of hype during his high school days. Zion was hyped at Duke, but I - and many others - didn't get it. He was explosive and big, but didn't exactly dominate college competition.
Wemby's athleticism is off the charts and ridiculous at his height -- almost like a cheat code. He's in the right place to succeed and reports say that he is driven. The injury concern is real though, especially given the thin frame. The Spurs have to gamble though because 'what if' he breaks the NBA. And that is the same reason why people will throw a bunch of money at his cards. 7'5 with no meat on the bones will likely lead to missed time or a shortened career, but I get the appeal. That said, it's a massive gamble considering what the price points will be for key cards. |
He was explosive and big, but didn't exactly dominate college competition.
This is hilarious. And backed by nothing more than lack of basketball knowledge. Zion's talent cannot be denied. When he's on the floor, he's one of the most dominant and efficient forces in college and in the NBA. The problem isn't his on-court ability, it's his health. Healthy Zion is a top 10 nba player in the league. |
People about to tune in and learn… about Keldon Johnson
my boy Keldon about to shine now with Wemba on the way :) |
This will be a card breakers dream year! Lol.
..until Fanatics sign him to an exclusive long-term contract, whilst Panini cling to the license for a couple more years. |
Since when has a center ever been hobby good? I hope folks don't overpay for his cards.
Wemby, a center? |
Wemby is going to be a MASSIVE bust.
I'm not sure if it'll be due to under-performance or injury, but I'd bet the bank on him being a massive bust. Be careful with your money, folks.
After taking MASSIVE losses on ‘19 Wax with Zion, I’ve learned my lesson…. I’m going to do it all again with Victor! The lesson: a tiger doesn’t change its stripes, and I’m a tiger  |
Anybody see that clip of him getting backed down and dunked on by that Ilgauskas lookalike in the French league?

Shaq ushered in more new hobby shops than ever in '92 |
Nobody worried that being that tall is a big risk? Players over say 7'2 have a bad track record. Not saying you don't take him. Just don't be surprised if he gets injuries.
Literally everyone is worried about injury risk lol |
Since when has a center ever been hobby good? I hope folks don't overpay for his cards.
Uhhhhhh, let’s see, there’s: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Wilt Chamberlain Bill Russell Shaq |
Shaq ushered in more new hobby shops than ever in '92
Shaq was a dynamic player though with his incredible play on the court and larger-than-life personality off it, also had one of the best rookie seasons ever. Don’t feel that type of excitement with Wemby. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQMWhgzqySY
The thing is I don't even know if he can add that much mass. His limbs are so long, the range of motion just to do push-ups, pullups, and squats is insane. Even if he did add 20lbs, you wouldn't even notice it. Isn't Porzingas like 7'3? He seems to have added some mass, but is his wingspan as long? The idea is he's Durant + 6 inches, but I don't see how he's going to play defense. |
Uhhhhhh, let’s see, there’s:
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Wilt Chamberlain Bill Russell Shaq
I said hobby good, not on-court performance. How much are Shaq and Kareem auto going for? Wilt and Bill are vintage and they are no longer here.
Shaq ushered in more new hobby shops than ever in '92
I meant long term hobby good, not the initial hype in the early speculative years. |

Exactly! O'Neal quickly established himself to be one of the best player in the NBA but his charisma was off the charts! Shaq made those Orlando Magic jersey a must have and who could forget his Reebok signature line? Shaq Attack! That was brilliant marketing and in the guard and forward dominated signature sneaker market (Air Jordan, Shawn Kemp) Reebok had no problem moving units of his shoes which was rare since Big Men doesn't sell shoes. Just out of interest; were you collecting in the early 1990s when Shaq was drafted? |
