A tale of two careers. A phenomenal and legendary producer and executive producer but she did not do a good job running Lucasfilm.

I wouldn't want that job and honestly, I think Filoni might be worse.

Does it even matter anymore? The interest in the franchise is waaaaaay down. Good luck repairing that mess

The "Mandalorian and Grogu" movie should be a pretty good indicator of current interest. It opens on May 22nd.

One of my happier father moments was seeing my boys grow to love Star Wars. One of the sadder moments was seeing them grow to hate it.

Have them watch the next one in reverse.

Of course we will, because you never know what might actually turn out to be good. I can say with confidence that I have not like at least 75% of the stuff that Disney has put out. If I decide to not watch any of it then I would have missed out on the greatest Star Wars story ever in Andor. That alone with Rogue One makes it all worth it.

This is the problem. Movie studios like Disney and Paramount took note of this and applied a corporate approach. In place of producing quality movies, they realized they could turn everything into a franchise, which guaranteed automatic revenue without much concern for quality. This has become the blueprint for many studios and franchises.

You want studios to put out good franchise films, then you will have to stop handing them over billions of dollars for the crap they produce year after year.

I'm hearing Kathleen's going to be taking over the "Dune" franchise.
Official announcement shortly.

I would agree it was worth it for Andor.

I will take this if it means there is a franchise and we eventually get Heretics and Chapterhouse. As it is, I don't know how much further it goes. I don't know how anybody is going to sell a studio on making God Emperor.

I very much enjoyed it. I will say, its loosely based on a book by Frank Herbert's son, and there are many Dune fans who view Brian Herbert the same way many Star Wars fans view Kennedy.

Dune has its issues. From a cinematography standpoint, it has been exceptional. However, they have not done the best job of incorporating the heavy philosophical aspects of Dune. David Lynch was better at that. I'm just hoping Messiah ends it on an amazing note. I'm just hoping that Dennis V. understands the true nature of the Messiah book and how it's meant to reflect the nature of what happens when you follow idol/leaders blindly and present that shock value to an audience who think they are on the side of the good guys at the end of the second film.

Sounds like the same issues people have with Fanatics & PSA. Funny how that works across the board.

The franchise was a mess once Lucas made the prequels, before Kennedy came along. Kennedy's leadership only made it worse. Heck, in light of recent events, the prequels actually look decent by comparison. Outside of Andor and Rogue One, most everything else has been pretty awful.

Lucas is the one who destroyed his own franchise. People always point to the prequels, but it started long before that. The third movie in the original trilogy could have been as great as the first two, but Lucas went after the almighty dollar instead. His focus shifted from screenwriting and high-level production to toy revenue and cutting production costs. Of course, the fact that he did away with Lawrence Kasdan and Irving Kirshner and completely destroyed the original plans for the movie so that he would have complete control over everything played a big part. This is why we ended up with stupid Ewoks and everything else we saw in that mess that was Return of the Jedi.

If people were familiar with what was intended for the 3rd movie and where things were going in the story, they'd quickly realize where Star Wars jumped the shark.
