Good move by Orlando.

Sorry, do people refer to it as Lando?

No. City Beautiful, O-Town or as we sometimes jokingly call it The Land of the Mouse.

seems like an overpay. that's a lot of first round picks.

Definitely an overpay, but he is a great fit for what they need, which is shooting

The real question remains which is how will they manage having both Franz and Paolo on the court at the same time?

Orlando is going to be good

Suggs, Bane, Banchero, Wagner, and Carter is legit

If all those picks end up in the 20’s no one will care about what they gave up

One of the picks they gave up is the Suns 2026. That could be a very interesting pick if the Suns are awful

I think that just as with Nesmith, Bane transcends. Actually wonder if Orlando could emerge as a force.

Good timing on pushing for next year. Celtics are dead, 76ers are a mess, Bucks just have Giannis, Knicks are searching for a coach. Pacers and Cavs should be there, but a regression isn't out of the possibility. East is wide open.

Seems like an overpay for Bane but he’s a great fit and the Magic’s roster is about to get very expensive with Suggs and Wagner’s extensions kicking in next year and Banchero the year after that so it makes sense to make a move now while they have salary flexibility.

Huge overpay.....

If Bane is worth two role players and four 1sts, what does that make Durant, Giannis, etc. worth???

I like that you think the NBA is logical

The way the first and second apron work?

Trades will never make sense

They’ve screwed this up so bad it’s laughable

I honestly don't think it's that much of an overpay really...

They still have a late 1st rd pick this year (25th), unless something has changed...

So they gave up essentially 2 1st rd picks next 2 drafts...and the others aren't until 28 and 30

For an 8/2/2 and 9/3/3 guy this past season...while Bane was 19/6/5 and gives Orlando more shooting/scoring

Anyone saying Magic overpaid doesn’t understand what they actually gave up

All the picks are unprotected. The Magic have the young core, they don’t need guys in the 20-30th pick range over the next few years.

I love Cole Anthony to death, but he had a steep drop off this season unfortunately, and with Anthony Black and Jett Howard continuing to work on their game, he simply isn’t needed on the team anymore. KCP was atrocious for us. We grossly overpaid him and he underperformed this season

Honestly outside of the 2026 pick they we gave up that COULD be a lottery pick I don’t feel like we gave up anything that we will regret.

I think the Magic just need a true center now, and they are contenders.

Phoenix is gonna suck this year, that pick should be in the Top 10. And any small market betting on being good 4-5 years from now no matter what is borderline delusional.

This is a great trade for the Grizzlies, Orlando overpaid.

This trade isn’t about 4-5 years later, it’s about being good now.
However

Suggs has 5 years left on current contract
Franz has 5 years left on current contract
Presumably we will sign Paolo to a 5 year max extension
Bane has 4 years left on current contract

So yeah, this core four will be together for 4-5 years.

As I said, the Phoenix pick is the only pick that will matter down the road. The rest of them will be in the 20-30 range. The Magic don’t need the phoenix pick. They are already extremely young. They need additional scoring and another player who is defensive minded and Bane fills both of those rolls.

Meh.

I mean, I understand why Orlando made the move. They're the worst 3 point shooting team in the league and absolutely one of the worst offenses period. So they're desperately trying to locate shooters. But Bane's extremely streaky, so I think this transaction could wind up ending in a Gary Harris(who himself had hype back in the day)-type trajectory as time passes.

The biggest issue for Orlando is if Dominican Cwebb and Vaugnur can coexist as primary driving forces of a championship roster. Because neither of them are great shooters. Basically the polar opposite of a healthy JB/Tatum frontcourt.

They also need to revise that playbook. Because playing at the slowest pace and allowing 100 points only works if you yourself score more than 100.

No one's disputing that the team will be good in the next 2-3 years.

4 years from now, Bane will be 31. So you are effectively betting on the Paolo/Franz/Suggs core, which you already have. Thinking that this core is gonna have a top 10 record no matter what in 2028 and 2029 is crazy.

And even if it isn't, you didn't need Bane for that.

Will end up the same as the Mikal Bridges trade. Big overpays for good but not great players. Also, players that bring nothing in terms of viewership, ticket sales, merch sales, star power, etc. I can't imagine anyone honestly believes this trade makes the Magic a serious contender. Realistically, how much more would they have had to of given up for Ja? That trade could have made them a contender.

Why would they have wanted Ja...he already tanked the Grizzlies..

He was one of the main reasons the coach was fired, complaining that he wasn't part of the offense enough...so he would co-exist with Paolo/Wagner who shoot 15-20 shots a Game?

I like the trade for Orlando, they've been sitting on this young core for a couple years & have been sitting on their hands basically with their picks. Enough is enough, finally got a really decent guard. Perfect fit - maybe not, but close enough and they still have other assets to swing another trade. Bane is an easy player to plug in and pretty low risk considering his age, contract, and shooting/scoring skills.
