Default 2024 Cleveland Guardians Thread

Noticed we don't have one for this year and finally decided to start one.

Been a very unforeseen start to the season. I'm not crazy enough to think that this is going to last completely.

Would like to see change with Florial and Laureano on this roster.

SS is still an issue offensively.

SP with Bieber being out seems to be hanging in there. Cookie and Lively don't seem sustainable to really complete would like to see a change there other than just getting Gavin Williams back.

Really like Vogt so far and the team is really fun! So who knows what will happen going forward but coming off a great weekend hopefully we can keep it up.

Off topic here but on topic for tribe talk

I just finished reading a book called "The curse of Rocky Colavito" By Terry Pluto.

I really enjoyed it even as a non tribe fan

It was great. Talked about the years 1955-1990 and went into the ups and mostly downs of the guardians franchise.

There was a book about how the Browns will never win the Super Bowl. I had it but never read it when I was younger. Wasn't big into football then as I am now.

I think it would be a good move for the Tribe to sign/offer a 2-year contract to Bieber since he is basically out for the first half of next year. Something decent but more of a prove it type of contract where both sides win. If he plays poorly after the surgery then it is only for a true year and could trade him. If he plays well then he will get his big payday and could get a solid productive year from him and could trade him too if they were out of contention/wanted to bring up a young pitcher.

Unforeseen start and seemingly unsustainable, but they keep on doing it! Offense was carrying the starting pitching to start and the pitching has really picked up with the offense coming back to earth a bit. That said, you've got major improvements to the lineup (Kwan) and rotation (Williams) coming up soon here hopefully. The AL central is not the cakewalk it was expected to be. There's room for a lot of the lineup to hit better. So Cleveland theoretically could get even better.

All I know is it's a fun ride and I'm gonna enjoy it while it lasts!

Edit: was really pleased with the positive response around Lindor's return. Dude was a big part of the team's success for half a decade and I'm glad he and the fans were mutually positive in the return.

Yeah. I've been thinking about this a lot. While him being injured is obviously not good. It does give us a chance to sign him for prove it type contract. Should be interesting to see what happens.

Can't wait to see Gavin Williams back. I'm guessing Cookie will be the odd man out once he comes back?

The only people that booed were the ones upset by him turning down the 200mil contract, but I'm glad there was a positive response in the long run. Frankie was huge for the organization.

I also would love this. Obviously hope he can come back and pitch well but I also hope I can continue to root for him in a Guards uniform.

Definitely huge for the organization. Something seemed...off? About his pregame interview with Andre. Seemed like he had a lot of regret in that tone

Plus I would think he would want to stay somewhere he is familiar with and who knows they won't rush him back. As long as it isn't a lowball offer, I would think he would be inclined to do a 2-year type deal or maybe 1 year with a mutual option for a second year.

I think Lindor regrets the move, especially since he was loved in Cleveland. I could see after the contract (granted he will be 38) that he could come back even if its for a farewell tour in his last season.

I think he regrets the move. he was loved. The organization finds a way to compete most years in recent times. There isn't a whole lot of pressure for the most part. I think 2016 still bothers him too.

Cookie to the injured list. Curry starting tonight. Curry looked good against Boston but wow his numbers in Columbus after being sent back

I had plans to come up for the parade. My aunt and uncle were outside the stadium for game 7 they said it was just an unbelievable experience.

5 in a row.

Side note we have to find some length from the starters

Yeah, starters were doing a good job getting through 6 innings until these last two. Hopefully McKenzie can get there tomorrow and we have a big enough lead with Clase likely unavailable to pitch tomorrow.

Tom Hamilton mentioned last night during the game that our top 3 relievers are in the top 5 in appearances and the other guys are right behind them. Probably not sustainable for all of them to be there

Yeah, just not sustainable. Gotta get more innings from starters consistently. It says a lot when it feels like a best case scenario is to hope to get through 6
